Finally Christian gets his own story! I’ve felt so bad for him when he fell for his older brother’s [now] wife. However, it’s sad that the poor guy doesn’t really catch a break in his own book. This isn’t the usual hard to get story. No, Christian has to fall in love with a human (which is forbidden) and not only that but he falls in love with her while on a suicide mission. Talk about bad luck. *shakes head*
I will say that I’m extremely happy that he has his own story though. It was nice to finally get into his head. You may not have gathered from the previous books but he’s very loyal and protective to his brother. Being able to turn into vapor is a huge and coveted gift that only the most powerful Ikati can do. Since he’s the second born son, he’s not up to be ruler of the Ikati but if it were common knowledge that he could shift to vapor he’d be forced to fight his brother for the throne. Not only does he keep his gift hidden to keep his brother safe but he also goes on a suicide mission to save his people. Christian is awesome!
This book sort of has two climaxes in one. For the first half of the story Ember has no idea that Christian is an Ikati. He keeps his true nature hidden from her. So for the first half of the book you were waiting for the bomb to drop. I liked that we got to see the characters in both the normal and supernatural world. Once Ember finds out about Christian, the story quickly picks up speed and starts building for the grand finale.
I am a big fan of J.T’s Night Prowler series. Yes it’s a shifter romance series but she has a way of drawing the reader into her world while making you fall in love with her characters. Like I’ve said, since the first book I’ve been waiting for Christian’s story. I fell in love with him from the first book and was pretty bummed when the next three books came out and he wasn’t the star but his story was well worth the weight.

Oh I’ve been really thinking about this series. I love the covers on it. So different. Now. There is a happily ever after with this one, yes? Just want to make sure. It sounds pretty dang fantastic.
