Soon the ghosts are everywhere, demanding her attention. When Chloe finally breaks down, she’s admitted to a group home for disturbed kids. At first Lyle House seems okay, but as she gets to know the other patients – charming Simon and his ominous, unsmiling brother Derek, obnoxious Tori, and Rae, who has a ‘thing’ for fire – Chloe begins to realize that something strange and sinister binds them all together, and it isn’t your usual ‘problem kid’ behavior.
After an incident at her school where Chloe see’s a man who isn’t really there, her father sends her to a group home for troubled teens. The only thing is, the group home isn’t what it seems.
Chloe is diagnoses with schizophrenia and is given a dosage of pills that she needs to take every day. However, she still hears voices coming from the basement of the school. Chloe may not realize what’s going on by the two boys in the house, Simon and Derek, know what Chloe is and why she’s seeing ghosts.
I liked Chloe as a character. She is sort of a pushover at times and a little dumb too but every once in a while she stands up for herself. She is confused and scared after being dumped at the group home and after time she starts to create bonds with a couple of the characters. However my favorite character is Derek.
Derek starts off as this distant guy who looms in the corner watching everything. He is very antisocial with everyone except his brother Simon. Although considering how tall he is, his bad case of acne and no matter how many showers he takes, he still has B.O, I’m sure not a lot of people are trying to become friends with him anyways. Once Chloe shows up, he seems intrigued with the girl who see’s ghosts. He tries to help her figure out what she is while keeping his distance from her. No one knows what Derek is but at the end of the book we finally find out.

I loved this quote because I had the SAME problem at that age.
