The last thing dragon shifter Stig Wyvern needs is his dead friend’s kid sister showing up on his doorstep. He’s just minutes away from entering a mating phase. Sharing his isolated house with the young woman he’s desperately lusted after for quite some time is a recipe for disaster.

But Cora Cardenas has nowhere else to go. She’s in deep trouble with some really nasty people and Stig is the only one who can protect her. That he’s deliciously sexy and makes her tingle with the simplest of smiles is just a bonus.

Cora quickly realizes Stig is hiding something from her. To make matters worse, she’s plagued with breathtakingly naughty dreams starring a shadowed lover who bears a startling resemblance to her host. And just what the hell is going on down in the basement at night?

Stig needs to get Cora out of his house but his inner beast has other ideas. He’s found his mate and she’s not going anywhere…

1thoughtsI liked the way the story started out. Cora shows up on Stig’s doorstep needing a place to hide out, but her timing couldn’t be worse. Stig is in the middle of the mating cycle that takes place every 3 years and the last thing he needs is a hot female in his house when he turns all big and scaling looking for a midnight romp.

This is definitely a steamy read. There are a lot of sex/sexual scenes in this short story and that both worked and didn’t work for me. I felt like the sex took over the story, which is fine for an easy erotica read but with the way this started out, I thought there would be more story to it. There were also some loose ends that were never really resolved or were quickly discharged with really no explanation. It seemed like just as the story started to get really good the ride was over.

One thing I had a problem with was how understanding Cora was with Stig’s dragon. I mean, this is not a world where dragons exist. So, if you went down to your brother’s friend’s basement and saw a dragon chained down there, you would not be calm. Not to mention once you found out that the dragon was the guy you’ve been crushing on. I mean, there was no pause from her, no hesitancy. She literally just finds out that he’s a dragon and she starts humping him. Also, Stig is part of this elite secret brotherhood. So what happens? Stig tells her everything about him and the brotherhood without second thought. I don’t know, I just found some things to be a little too unbelievable.

I really enjoyed the authors writing style and she’s got some good smut but the story left too many open questions and was too abrupt for me.

1favequote“Yes. Right now, I see the same sexy Stig that I’ve craved for years. So you were green and then orange and had dragon wings and were kind of scary. Big fucking deal. You should see some of the guys who hit on me.”

6 Thoughts on “Review: Dead Sexy Dragon by Lolita Lopez

  1. It does sound unbelievable with the no shock, but you hooked me at dragon lol 🙂

  2. This is another Dragon series that I want to try. A fellow blogger love the books and it sounds like it’s something I can enjoy. On your problem with the book, I would find that impossible as well. I mean I get stupefied when I see a wasp or snake I can only imagine if it’s a dragon!

    • If she only froze for like a few minutes that would have been fine with me. It was like she went from seeing him in his work clothes, and then saw him in his lounging clothes. No reaction at all. :\ If you read it you will have to let me know what you thought of it. I wanted to love this one so bad.

  3. This one definitely had the heat. I need to get the rest of the series at some point. I always think the opposite is a little grrry when they just refuse to believe or freak out and can’t stop. I always shake the heroine and go havent you ever read a paranormal romance novel??! Catch a clue. You’re gonna be fine! lol

    • Yes. The uncontrollable freak-out irritates me as well. I think the fact that she didn’t really have any reaction disappointed me though. I mean, how many dragons do you come across that you don’t at least freeze up in fear for a minute or two. I mean, when I came across my first tarantula in the house a couple years ago, I just about peed myself. There were some tears, and a minor panic attack taking place until my friend came to the house to remove the “oh so innocent baby”. That was over something that I’ve seen in pet stores and zoos. So, a dragon for me would cause a deer in headlights at least. Then… then I’d want to pet it. >.< LoL
