Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.

Complete strangers since this morning.

He’ll do anything to remember. She’ll do anything to forget.

1thoughtsCharlie’s going about a normal school day when all of a sudden her mind sort of just resets. She has no idea where she is, except obviously in a school, she has no idea who the people are around her who clearly know her, and it would appear that she has a boyfriend that she’s never met before. Add onto all of that that Silas (he boyfriend) is exhibiting the same strange behavior as her. Turns out, he lost his memory while at school as well. They have no idea what is going on and what caused it. Not only do they have to stumble through the day without even knowing who they are, they also need to figure out what happened to them and figure out a way to stop their minds from being reset again.

Never Never was an interesting story. You are given no insight as to what is going on. In fact, the story starts with a confused and disoriented Charlie. So, you go through the motions with Charlie and Silas as they slowly try to figure things out and piece their life back together. You get the sense that Charlie was a complete snob to everyone and Silas was somewhat of a good-boy. Regardless of how they were before, they view themselves as completely different people from who they were earlier on in the day.

While this story was interesting, it is not a compete story. It’s a serial and I hate serials. I didn’t know this at the time when I grabbed a free copy. In all honestly, it’s sort of like a teaser story. You aren’t given any answers to anything. In fact, the questions just keep piling up until the story ends on a cliffhanger. In all honesty, I don’t plan on reading the next book–unless it’s free. I just don’t want to waste my time on another incomplete story. What I read didn’t hook me in enough to make me commit to a serial series.

10 Thoughts on “Review: Never Never by Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher

  1. Gosh, I bought this one when it came out because everyone was saying I had to read it because of the authors, and now that I know it is a serial with cliffhangers, I am sorry I spent money on it. Bummer!

  2. Oh this would piss me off! There needs to some resolution. Sheesh! It sounded good but hearing it doesn’t reveal any answers just totally put me off.

    • Yeah. I mean, maybe down the line they will combine all the books into one complete story? I don’t know. For now, I’m not going to be wasting my money on small little incomplete stories. Those drive me nuts.

  3. Oh, I haven’t read any serials, but the no answers thing would be frustrating.

    • That’s usually what happens in serials because it’s technically one story that’s been broken off into tiny pieces. There never really a beginning, middle, climax, and resolution because it’s just a snippet of a whole. :\

  4. I like serials BUT I want the omnibus. lol I’m so weird! I just like the convenient excuse that I can read the parts in liesure or if I choose to binge read, it’s available to me too.

    • Yes! Once a serial has fully been released I can sit down and read it with no problem. It’s when it’s sloooowly released and I have to read bits and pieces here and there that drives me nuts. By the time the next volume comes out, I’ve forgotten that rush of feeling I was experiencing leading up to that part because I had read it a month or two ago and have read multiple books since then. It’s like pausing a movie right at a good scene and then going back to watch it a month later. I need the whole story in one sitting in order to enjoy it.

  5. I preordered before I realized it was a serial, and never bothered to read it. I like the unreliable narrator though. Great review Kristin.
