On Friday I went whale watching for the first time on the west coast. I’ve been living in California for the last eight years and I’ve never gone whale watching out here. However, there were a group of people from my husband’s work who were interested in going out on a tour before the end of the season. I was a little worried that I would get seasick, but ultimately decided to go and hope for the best. I am really glad I did because it was so much fun! We got to see a resident grey whale that apparently hangs out in this one shallow area near the beginning of our trip out to the open sea. Then when we were way out in the ocean we got to see a mom and calf grey whale. We lost sight of them for a bit and then all of a sudden they were resurfacing on the other side of the boat with two other grey whales who seemed to pop up out of nowhere. There were some seals swimming out in the waves. A bunch of sea lions basking on a bait fish dock. We also got to see a pod… or more likely, pods of dolphins playing and jumping around in the water. There were just so many of them. I wound up taking a video of them because there was no way I was going to capture it in a single picture. It was insane. So yeah, I had a ton of fun. The best part is… I didn’t get sick! I was actually laughing like a loon, riding the waves like a crazy cowgirl, while everyone around me was groaning. 😂

We got to go to our first Padres game here in San Diego. The Mister’s co-worker had a pair of extra tickets and asked if we wanted to go to a game. It was our first time at Petco Park and we had a blast. We’ve been to a few parks, but so far Petco Park tops the list for me. They had amazing food and drink vendors. I have never been to a ballpark where you could get your typical hotdog and burger, but also get sushi, mahi mahi tacos, and tri tip nachos. Not to mention they had a wine cellar in the stadium! You walked in, chose a bottle from their wall to wall selection of wines (or got it a glass on tap like I did), and they fill up a SD Padres carafe with your wine of choice with a couple of Padres wine glasses to take back to your seat. There was also a really delicious tiki booth serving Mai Thai, Pina Colada, and some ginger concoction. The best part though was that they served their drinks in this tall tiki glass. I may have gotten on of those just to take home the glass. LoL So yeah, if you follow me on IG, now you know why I was posting so many stories on Friday night. 😉

This week was very low-key for me. The Mister was gone this week for work, so I decided to take that opportunity to just sit at the computer and get as much work done as possible. I still have a ton of more blog posts to type up, but I got a solid chunk done over the last few days. Which is huge for me since I am usually typing up posts the day before.

While I was successful in getting some work done, the books I read left me feeling ho-hum. There were just a lot of mediocre reads with characters that seemed to lack a brain. I even had a DNF this week, which is sad since I thought I would love that story. Actually, I thought I was going to love ALL of the books I read. Which was probably why I fell into a reading slump. It’s just so rough to be letdown over and over by books that you are so sure of.
