interview

*We put on our reporter glasses, pull out our sleek silver tape recorder, stare Lucy down and ask…*

Why did you choose to write YA?
YA is the genre I like to read most. I love the way I can re-live, through the characters, the teenage years and first loves. Didn’t your mom ever tell you you’d miss those days at some point? Did you do like me and just rolled my eyes and said “Yeah, right!” Yup, she was right. So, YA allows me to go back there, even if for just a moment.

Okay so your favorite genre is YA but who’s your favorite author?
As authors go… I like quite a bunch, can’t really play favorites here.

Okay okay fair enough. How about this? How did you come up with the title?
I woke up one morning with the word EVERMORE stuck in my head. For days it wouldn’t leave me alone. There already is an Evermore book (Alyson Noel’s first book in the Immortal series) and so I began thinking of how to transform it and make it work with my book. That’s when Feathermore was born.

What’s the most necessary thing for you to have while writing example: music, lucky socks or perhaps a special mouse pad?
A clean house. It’s a little OCD of me, I know, but otherwise I cannot concentrate. Music is my everything, and although I tend to write with it on, even if it is in the background, sometimes, I just need pure silence.

Describe a typical writing day for you.
Well, a writing day is pretty much that: writing, so not a whole other things to do. Except, of course, my writing time gets cut down by social media. I am on Twitter day in and day out, Facebooking, checking Goodreads, sales of my books, etc… Sometimes I wished the internet would go off, but then, I’d probably go crazy without it.

We know that you are currently working on the sequel to Feathermore, can you tell us a little bit about it?
Book #2 will pick up right where Feathermore left off, and I am sure a lot of people would like to know what the heck will happen. So there will be journeys to be taken on and mysteries to unravel.

Since we do favorite part/quote in our reviews, what’s your fave part/quote from Feathermore?
Ahh, that is so not fair! I like them all! I would have to say maybe the last few chapters were my favorites, just because a lot is explained and leaves you with your jaw on the floor. What do you think?

We have to agree with that. We were both surprised with the last few chapters.

Now to the goodies!!

about the book

When the one thing you live for is taken from you, do you let it go or do you fall?
Jade, like any other student at Brushwood High, awaits the start of the school year with a certain measure of dread. Worse, she is being threatened by a voice that only she can hear—a voice that lurks at the edges of her awareness, haunting her and warning her of something unknown. She has always been able to count on her two best friends, Claire and Nate, but can she confide in them now? About this? Would they even believe her?
Life takes a turn for the better when she meets Avan, a darkly handsome new student who, somehow, seems to drown out the voice and make her feel at ease.
But Jade soon comes to realize that good things don’t last forever. When everything spirals out of control, she is shattered by something she never saw coming. Dazed and despairing, she must now overcome tragedy and embrace her true existence and a new but dangerous love. Will she be able to save herself and those she loves, before it’s too late? Or will she let the surrounding darkness consume her?
