Retired Marine Master Sergeant Adam Montague has battled through four combat zones, but now finds himself retreating from Karla Paxton, who has declared war on his heart. But Karla’s knack for turning up in his bed at inopportune times is killing his resolve to do the right thing. Karla isn’t the young girl he rescued nine years earlier—something his body reminds him of every chance it gets.

Their age difference is only part of the problem. Fifty-year-old Adam has been a collector of lost and vulnerable souls most of his life, but a secret he has run from for more than three decades has kept him emotionally unable to admit love for anyone. Will Karla be able to break through the defenses around his heart and help him put the ghosts from his past to rest? In her all-out war to get Adam to surrender his heart, will the strong-willed Goth singer offer herself as his submissive and, if so, at what cost to herself?

When Marc rescued Angelina from an abusive Dom at his fetish club, he never imagined she’d upend his safe, controlled life. But his SAR partner, Luke, a widower, thinks Angelina has been sent to him by his dead wife. Marc knows only he can fulfill her sexual needs, but won’t hurt his friend. When the abusive Dom stalks her, she turns to Marc for help and learns a submissive has power too.

1thoughtsI will admit that Marc wasn’t one of my favorite characters in the first book. Not that he’s a bad guy but his story just didn’t interest me. He has quite a bit of money thanks to his family’s business. He’s been burned by women that he planned to marry before and has since grown detached from wanting a permanent sub. Sure, he doesn’t mind the one night stands but he’s not up to trusting anyone ever again.

Since reading BDSM romance novels, Angela has been intrigued by it. So when her date takes her to Master at Arms “kink club”, she’s excited to see what all her books talk about. However, the night quickly turns for the worse and she finds herself tied up with an abusive Dom who refuses to heed to the safe-word. So needless to say, she’s not going to be going to anymore BDSM clubs.

Luke is a new character added to the scene. He’s the guy who makes the special furniture for the club. He’s also part of the Search and Rescue team with Marc. So, on one of their SAR missions, Luke is taken back to the place where he not only lost his wife but a SAR member years ago when hiking with his wife. He’s never forgiven himself for what happened that fatal day. If they’d been more cautious and payed attention to the signs, his wife would still be alive and he wouldn’t have the death of Antonio Giardano Sr. on his hands. So imagine his turmoil when he finds himself interested in Antonio’s daughter.

Once the story started, I thought it was interesting but I still couldn’t get on board with a few things that take place. Aside from that one night at the club where Angela was abused by her Dom and then saved by the dungeon master, Marc, she’s as vanilla as they come. So why when presented with Luke and Marc, she starts getting hot and heavy with both of them? Some times separately, or while in the same room sitting next to each other, or the three of them together?!

“She was putty in their hands now. If they wanted to worship at her alter, she wasn’t about to reject their offerings.”

I just didn’t understand how she made that leap when only knowing the guys for a few hours. I mean, she had no clue that Marc was the guy who saved her that night since he was wearing a mask. So it’s not even like she had that to go off of. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.

Aside from that, I was excited to see glimpses of Adam and Karla in this book, since after all, Karla and Angela become friends in this book. Yup, I’m definitely glad that their story is next because I’ve been dying to read up on the Marine who saved the teenage runaway from the local pimps. HaHa

Dash’s brow furrowed, and he made no effort to hide his concern. He reached for her hand as they stopped at a light.

“What’s going on with you, honey?”

His tone was worried and his eyes were boring intently into hers.

She gave him a half smile. “I’m having lunch with Kylie and Chessy. It’s time I stop with the grieving widow act every year on the same day. It’s been three years, Dash. He’s gone and he’s not coming back.”

She halted a moment, the pain of her statement momentarily stealing her breath. But it had to be said. To be acknowledged. And perhaps saying it aloud made it that much more real.

She could swear she saw relief flash in his deep brown eyes, but it was gone so quickly she was sure she imagined it.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to come over after you have lunch with the girls?”

She shook her head. “No. It’s not necessary, Dash. You’ve babysat me for long enough. It’s time for me to stand on my own two feet. I’m sure it has to come as a relief to you that you don’t have to hover over me for fear I’ll lose it. I’m just sorry I’ve been such a burden to you for so long.”

This time a glint of anger flashed in those dark eyes. “You’re not a burden, damn it. Carson was my best friend, Joss. He—and you—mean a hell of a lot to me.”

She squeezed his hand as he accelerated after a car behind them honked angrily when Dash didn’t immediately go when the light turned green.

“And I appreciate that. I appreciate all you’ve done for me. But it’s time, Dash. I have to do this. He’s gone. I have to accept that.”

Dash didn’t respond. He directed his gaze forward, tension thick in the interior of the car. Had she angered him? She’d only been honest, and she’d sincerely thought he would be glad that he no longer had to treat her like a fragile piece of glass. That he could resume his own life without making her a priority in his.

When they arrived back at her house, she got out, as did Dash. He walked her to the door and she went in, turning back to tell him thank you and goodbye.

“This isn’t goodbye,” he said tightly. “Just because you think you no longer need me doesn’t mean I’m going to just disappear. Prepare yourself for that, Joss.”

With that, he spun on his heel and strode back down the sidewalk, leaving her staring open-mouthed as he drove away.

The journey that was two hours away and that I got pulled over for speeding while I was on the phone with my agent who had an offer from a publisher for one of my books… The officer wasn’t impressed. He wrote me a ticket anyway. Thus, I now tell my daughter that her dog turned into one very expensive concession! But isn’t he cute?

Are you ready to play?
Yet all is not as it seems. To remove Natalie from an enemy’s reach, Sevastyan spirits her into hiding. From an opulent palace in Russia to the decadent playgrounds of the mega-wealthy in Paris, the two lovers will discover that even their darkest – and most forbidden – fantasies can come true…

1thoughtsWe start out right where Part 2 left off at… in a BDSM club. Yup, we start off right in the action. However, this isn’t really a lust filled part of the story. Sure it starts out as such but it becomes deeper the more you read.

Natalie isn’t happy that Sevastyan isn’t opening himself up to her. He expect her to marry him but every day she finds that he’s distancing himself from her. He shuts down the second he gets home from “meetings” and she’s had enough. Either he opens up to her or she leaves him. And boy does he have one doosey of a story to tell. I liked that even though there isn’t that suspense from the first book or the sex filled scenes of the second, this one dove deep into the psyche of Sevastyan. We learn of his past, how he ended up on the streets and understand why that’s changed him into the man he is.

This was a great end to an amazing story. I do feel that breaking it into separate parts kept me from truly diving into it because of the breaks between parts. It was like pausing a great movie mid scene and then going back a month later and pressing play. I was no longer fully in the moment. Which is why the part I enjoyed the most was the first one. However, I plan on going back and starting the story over and reading it from start to finish. I have a feeling that after doing so I will walk away with a deeper love for the story and the characters within.

1thoughtsNatalie has always wondered who her biological parents are. She’s hired a private investigator in the hopes of finding them but when her PI goes missing she finds herself back at ground zero. So imagine her surprise when a hot Russian shows up demanding that she leave with him to meet her father. Fast forward her kidnapping and a private jet to Russia, she finally gets a chance to meet her father. A father who just so happens to be Mafia.

The characters were really interesting to read. Natalie is a girl who’s very perceptive when it comes to men. Even though she’s still a virgin, she calls them like she sees them. However, when Sevastyan walks into the bar she draws a blank. Little does she know that he’s been watching over her for a month. A bodyguard sent by her biological father to protect her. But Sevastyan isn’t all that he seems. As the story progresses you start to get bits and pieces about his past as well as new developments about his character. Even at the end, the man is still a mystery to me. A mystery that I’d love to solve.

Even though the whole kidnapping, flying to Russia was a bit far fetched… it was highly entertaining and amped up the suspense. Not to mention that all the guys on her father’s estate walked around with rifles, ready to kill. However, regardless of the surroundings, her father was really mellow and friendly. I still don’t fully understand what his title is in the Mafia other than the “Clockmaker”.

This is the first book by Kelsey that I’ve read so I can’t really compare it to her other work which I know is really popular. But I’ll be honest, this definitely won’t be my last. Not only is her story telling on point but the characters are really likable. There’s great humor throughout the book and when the woman says this is erotica, she delivers! Holy cannoli! *Fans herself* There were a handful of hot and steamy moments.

Will I be continuing with the series? Hell yeah! It had everything that I look for in an erotic story. Sexy scenes, likable characters and an awesome backbone of a story to back it all up. Yup, I will not only be waiting impatiently for the next book to come out but I’ll also be running to the library to see if they have her other books as well. Might as well brush up on her other work while I’m waiting for Part II.
