It’s a weekly feature. Each week Jessi from Novel Heartbeat will choose a subject that I will talk about. The topics will be non-bookish so that you can get to know me on a more personal level.

Bad Habits

Let’s see…

I am a huge procrastinator. I’ve always been one of those people who waits until the last moment to do something and then rushes to get it done before the time is up. I was this way with book reports for school (I always managed to get good grades on them). I waited until the day of to finish cleaning the spare rooms for company who was coming to visit. There have been days where the Mr. has come home and I’m still in pj’s, dishes are piling up, dinner has long been forgotten, and I’m just sitting on the couch reading. Those nights are usually leftover or burger nights. I’m also always one of the last people to show up for a party because while the party was starting, I was still at home finishing up whatever dish I decided to bring. Yes, I’m one of those people how cannot show up empty handed, and since I also have a food blog, I always make something new to take to parties so that I can have a new recipe to blog about. Which of course, always takes more time to make than I originally thought it would since it’s something I’ve never made before.

I’m also really bad with swearing. Like, really bad. I’ve tried coming up with other phrases like “fudge” and “crap on a cracker”, but that doesn’t work. I broke one of my Christmas decorations while taking everything down this year, and I’m pretty sure all my neighbors heard me yell, “Cock balls on a cock cracker!”… don’t ask… I really don’t know. The Mr. was definitely judging my sanity at that point.

Wine. Wine is my downfall. I’m not a soda drinker. I don’t drink juice or flavored drinks. Just water with lemon or cucumber in it. However, I am a lover of wine. I actually recently got a gift card to Walmart for Christmas from my aunt. You know what I did with that bad boy? Yup, you guessed it, I bought wine. About 7 bottle of wine. πŸ™‚

I don’t know if this would be considered as a bad habit but I tend to retreat inside myself when at gatherings. Especially when it’s a gathering involving the Mr’s co-workers. I’m always the socially awkward one whose off petting the fur-babies while everyone else is mingling with each other. I once brought my e-reader to a party. The Mr. was horrified but the host understood and told me that I could sneak off to her room to get away from everyone to read if need be. She and I became friends after that.

I’m sure I have more bad habits, those are just the top ones that come to mind.

What are some of your bad habits?

  1. PROCRASTINATOR = me too. Same with book reports and somehow getting good grades. Things piling up until I’d rather do something simple instead and then still end up having to get the work done anyway… I want to invite you to my parties! I didn’t know you had a food blog. It’s really kind of you to show up with something from home. I’ve been doing that lately for work gatherings, but the motivation elsewhere :O… I like that it helps you try new recipes. Hahaha swearing is something that’s so hard to avoid. Seriously, if you can manage to get rid of that “bad habit,” I’d say you have a lot of self-control, ha. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t swear. And wine is delicious! What’s your favorite kind? I don’t think retreating inside yourself is a bad habit. It sounds like you’re an introvert, and that’s not a bad thing at all. And it sounds like the host understood that. (She sounds amazing). Have you read Quiet by Susan Cain? I love the comic! And cats are good friends, so no judgement from me :).

    • I wouldn’t say that my mom necessarily raised me to bring a dish to events, but every time there was a gathering, she’d always bring her taco dip. I guess it just rubbed off on me. πŸ™‚
My favorite wine right now is Middle Sister’s Rebel Red blend.
And no I have not read Quiet but I just looked it up and added it to my GR list. It sounds like a book I must read.
…thanks for not judging me. LoL πŸ˜‰

  2. LOL I’m so bad about swearing too. Sometimes that’s just all that will get the feeling across. lol

That cartoon is so me! I’m usually found where the house pets are rather than the people.

  4. Oh wow, those are some unique bad habits! I don’t swear at all so I cannot relate to that one and I am not good at procrastinating either, unless I am reading a good book. Then I can! But my worst habit would probably be going silent when I am angry because I don’t want to regret anything I am going to say… but it bothers the person I am arguing with to no end!
