Welcome to the Point

There’s a difference between a bad boy and a boy who’s bad . . . meet Shane Baxter.

Sexy, dark, and dangerous, Bax isn’t just from the wrong side of the tracks, he is the wrong side of the tracks. A criminal, a thug, and a brawler, he’s the master of bad choices, until one such choice landed him in prison for five years. Now Bax is out and looking for answers, and he doesn’t care what he has to do or who he has to hurt to get them. But there’s a new player in the game, and she’s much too innocent, much too soft…and standing directly in his way.

Dovie Pryce knows all about living a hard life and the tough choices that come with it. She’s always tried to be good, tried to help others, and tried not to let the darkness pull her down. But the streets are fighting back, things have gone from bad to worse, and the only person who can help her is the scariest, sexiest, most complicated ex-con The Point has ever produced.

Bax terrifies her, but it doesn’t take Dovie long to realize that some boys are just better when they’re bad.

Bax just got out of jail for doing 5 years. His best friend apparently set him up, and his brother was the arresting cop. Needless to say, Bax is not too happy when he is released from jail. However, when he’s led to Dovie, his best friend’s sister, things start to fall into place.

This story had a lot of good things going on. You have the bad boy angle. There’s also the best friend’s lil sister romance. Not to mention the suspense on where Race (his best friend) is hiding out, and what he has up his sleeve. There were just a lot of moving pieces in this story, and I was always waiting for something to happen. Granted, a lot of this story is clearly the romance, there’s also a lot of character growth which I really liked. Bax grew up as a street kid, doing illegal crap to make money. He’s quick to throw a punch and he not afraid to kill someone. However, throughout the story, you start to see he change little by little. I don’t know about you, but I love it when I see a character grow throughout the story.

We get glimpses of secondary characters and how they may play a bigger role in the following books. Between Bax’s best friend, and brother, to Dovie’s best friend and coworker, you can tell that these characters will have their voice heard soon and I can’t wait. If you’re looking for a romance that has a bad boy… and I do mean bad boy, not some punk who likes to belittle women and has a temper, then you should give this book a read. I’m new to this author’s work, but I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series.
