Play with fire, pay the price.

Leila’s years on the carnie circuit were certainly an education. What she didn’t learn: how to be a vampire, or how to be married to the most famous vampire of them all. Adjusting to both has Leila teetering on a knife edge between passion and peril, and now the real danger is about to begin…

Vlad must battle with a centuries-old enemy whose reach stretches across continents and whose strength equals his own. It isn’t like Vlad to feel fear, but he does…for Leila, because his enemy knows she is Vlad’s greatest weakness. As friend and foe alike align against him—and his overprotectiveness drives Leila away—Vlad’s love for his new bride could be the very thing that dooms them both…

Bound by Flames took the darkness and badassery to a whole new level. It’s been no surprise throughout the series that Vlad has many enemies. However, no matter how many times Vlad thinks he has the person behind the attacks cornered and/or killed, the guy keeps popping back up. In this installment, we see just how far he’s willing to go to take down Vlad, and how far Vlad is willing to go to seek his revenge.

There’s so much that goes on in this book. Poor Leila and her family are stuck in the middle of this centuries long hate-fueled battle. Now that she’s married to Vlad, she becomes the main target of the attacks on Vlad. After all, his enemy knows that if they can take out the one woman he loves, they will have hurt him beyond repair. Which means that Leila has a lot to overcome in this book. I wish I could go into details of all that happens in this installment, because there is a lot of juicy bits in this story, but I don’t want to ruin all the twist and turns the author has in store for readers. What I can say is that it’s even darker than before. You will be horrified by the things that go on, and you will be on the edge of your seat the entire time.

Bound By Flames was another win in the Night Prince series. Their bond and love for each other continues to grow. You still see the impact that Leila has on Vlad and how much he has changed since she came into his life. You see how much Leila has grown as a character and how she’s come into her new role. These two are a force to be reckoned with. I can’t wait to see what the author has in store for us next.

Favorite quote…

“Compromise Lesson One: Pull a dick move, and your dick gets denied. Every woman knew that, and now, so did the vampire sitting next to me.”

I might have to give these another go. I loved him as a secondary character but struggled with this series. Might have just been me at the time, though. I’ll add it back to my 2019 list I think 🙂
