“Hi Monty. Wanna see my python?”

That’s how I ended up in the bathroom of some dive bar with a stranger.

Me, Monty Andrews, the quintessential virgin girl next door.

I was so out of my element, but there was no denying our explosive attraction, even via text.

Commence Operation Bang Each Other Out of Our Systems, because that was all it was—unfinished business.

I had no intention of falling back into the sheets with the tattooed, muscly, dirty-in-the-best-kind-of-way single dad over and over again…but I did.

Everything was going great—until we discovered I was his son’s teacher.

Can’t Text This is a cute story. Monty has always lived life carefully. She grew up really sheltered and has always played by the book. However, after a night of drinking with her sister, she becomes a bit ballsy and asks a hot stranger to make out with her. What was only supposed to be a moment of fun turns into much more when Monty realizes that the guy she hooked up with is none other than the father of one of her first grade students.

I honestly thought that the big reveal would happen much sooner in the story line, but instead it comes much later in the story. About half of the story is of these two texting back and forth and bumping into each other here and there. I will admit that I was a little disappointed that the big reveal of Monty being Robbie’s son’s teacher was so late in the game. It left zero tension to the story and by the time it does pop up, it’s resolved rather quickly due to it being at the end of the book. I  kind of wish everything had popped up a lot sooner in story line so that we could savor the drama a bit more.

As for the characters, I thought Monty and Robbie were great. Monty is this straight-laced girl. She wears skirts and dresses (jeans are scandalous to her), she doesn’t swear, and up until she meets Robbie, she was saving herself for marriage. Meanwhile, Robbie is this tattooed, motorcycle wearing guy who swears in just about every sentence. He also knocked up a one-night stand when he was only 19 yrs old. These two were complete opposites but it was great watching them interact with each other.

Can’t Text This was an enjoyable read. While I would have liked to have seen a bit more from the story a little sooner in the game, I still found myself flipping through pages waiting for the bomb to drop.

  1. I really want to read this one! Single dad? Check! Tattooed, motorcycle riding single dad? KRYPTONITE!

This sounds like a cute read, Kristin. I do like the opposites attract element. I understand your frustration with the reveal being so late in the game though…that’s disappointing. But I’m happy you enjoyed Monty and Robbie’s story overall.

  3. This is the second review I’ve seen for this book today, and I’m sold. I love the premise for this! I’m sorry there wasn’t as much tension as you’d hoped. That’s always a bummer with romance. I’m glad you were able to enjoy it anyway.

    Great review! 🙂

  4. That sounds like a fun story.

  5. I keep singing Can’t Touch This – except Can’t Text This…lol So thank you for THAT.
