This is one of the most intense books in the series so far. Cat and Bones decide to go on a little vacation and when they do Cat is almost “dream snatched” by her husband. No, no, not Bones… her first vampire husband… Gregor. Whom, she doesn’t even remember knowing, let along the fact that she would marry a vampire at the age of 16 when at the time she despised vampires. Gregor will do anything to get Cat back, including but not limited to, cheap shots and low blows. This book kept me on my toes the entire time. Who knew so much could go down in only a few hundred pages. My one and only complaint… there was no Tate! :'(
Where do I begin, Cat is the typical Cat. She is still just as stubborn as Bones. She still feels like she needs to protect everyone from danger, which still lands her in a heap of trouble. Which leads to Bones getting the most pissed off I have seen so far. Emotions run high throughout the entire book. Vlad steps up and becomes a good friend to Cat and comforts her through a tough spot, which of course Bones misinterprets. More huge battles, more huge losses and some new developments to give the story a twist.
I think that pretty much sums up the book without giving too much away. With all the action that is going on, Frost has still found time for some amazing one on one time with Bones and Cat. I could barely put this book down and stayed up until the early morning trying to finish it. This book very well may have been my favorite from the series so far. It had action, suspense, steamy scenes and heart break all wrapped up in one intense book.
One of Cat’s enemies comes up to her at a gathering and they exchange civilized covered insults. Cat of course has the last word.
“Vlad of course made no attempt to hide his laughter. Mencheres gave me one of those you’re-not-being-prudent glares, and Bones looked like he wanted to throttle me. Well, too bad. Appollyon had tried to incite people to kill me and other vampires, all based on lies and paranoia. Damned if I was going to kiss his ass and say it tasted like candy.”

Aaaahhh Vlad. I did love him in this series. That really was a great read 😀 Glad you’re enjoying them!
He’s is great. I read Once Burned and I didn’t love his AS much in his own book. Maybe it’s just the way he plays off of Bones and Cat.
I still have to read At grave’s end but I’ve heard so much about Vlad, I really want to get there. I need to catch up with this series, moving it up my list – great review !
Vlad is kind of the best part of the series. :\ Which is sad since he has his own spin-off series. There’s just something about him in this series though that makes him shine.

Hmm.. I will have to disagree with you on that one. My major gripe with this series is the fact that the author has woven the spin-offs INTO this one. So you have to read all her spin off series and Night Huntress in a certain order or you end up feeling left out. Like Cat’s widowed friend and that other dude. Did not know they were a couple… unless I read their spin-off novel. I don’t like that. Not at all.
Yes this was an intense read.
