Lady Dwyn Innes feels utterly out of place among the eligible women who’ve descended on Buchanan Keep, vying for the attention of the last unmarried brothers. She isn’t long-legged and slender like her sisters, or flirtatious and wily like other lasses. Since her betrothed died, Dwyn has resigned herself to becoming an old maid. Yet a chance encounter with a stranger in the orchard awakens her to a new world of sensation and possibility…

After weeks away, Geordie Buchanan returns to find his home swarming with potential brides, thanks to his loving but interfering family. But one lass in particular draws his attention from the moment he spies her climbing a tree. Lady Dwyn is not nearly as plain as she thinks. Her lush figure and eager kisses delight him, as does her honesty. But the real test lies ahead: eliminating a hidden enemy, so that he and Dwyn can seal their Highland passion with a vow.

My thoughts

When Geordie comes home, only to find it overrun by women, he decides to spend his first night out in the orchard away from all the chaos. However, he woken up by a women running towards his location, with a pair of women chasing after her. Clearly not knowing that he’s there, she climbs the tree to get away from her pursuers. When he decides to climb the tree to check on her, he is soon overcome with her bellowing bosom that he immediately takes a liking to her. I mean, sure she’s pretty enough, but with her melons on display, he’s a goner.

Ok. In all fairness, Gwyn has a kick-ass personality for someone from her century. Instead of being some demure bumbling idiot, she thinks for herself and isn’t afraid to speak her piece. So while her girls may have caught his attention at first, her quick, sassy wit is what held his interest. However, what really pushes him towards her is the fact that she seems to have the worst of luck. One thing after another happens to her and pretty soon it appears that someone has it out for Dwyn. Which is when Geordie becomes protective of her and spends a lot of time with her. The fact that he gets to know her, and she’s not just a warm body really softened his horny nature.

I really enjoyed the soft, tender moments between Geordie and Dwyn. I also really liked Dwyn’s personality and the fact that she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind about anything. I really enjoyed the lightheartedness of this story. Since it’s the eighth book in the series, and this is the first book I’ve read from this author, I think it’s safe to say you can read these out of order. I do plan on picking up the other books though because I just enjoyed the easy flow of the story and the silliness of some of it.

  1. Your review made me laugh. Bellowing bosom…lol Iv’e read her before but it’s been a while. This sounds fun.

  2. I’ve been adding highlander romances to my list lately, and guess what? This is going to be on the list as well, hehe 😛 A bit of silliness never hurts, right? 😉
