On leave for Thanksgiving, the last thing marine lieutenant Talia Barnett expects to find is Liam Brodie waiting for her at the airport. He’s had a starring role in her fantasies for the past two years, and although she’d love to make them a reality, she has a dark secret that prevents her from taking things further.
A former marine, Liam’s specialty is planning tactical operations, and that’s just what he plans to do to win Talia. The woman has kept him at arm’s length for too long, and this time he’s finally going to claim her—body and heart.
What begins as comfort quickly turns hot. When Liam shows Talia a hint of the dominant nature inside him, the submissive part of her flares to life. Though she desires him, she’s going back on deployment and doesn’t want to dump all her drama on him. Will he find a way to break through the protective walls around her heart and convince her they have a future that goes far beyond the bedroom?
Talia is a Lt. in the Marine corp who comes home for Thanksgiving. Every time she comes home she has to deal with her mother who is nothing short of a handful due to her depression. Liam meets Talia at the airport with his sister and takes her back to his parents house for dinner. Afterwards Liam makes his feelings known for Talia but she pushes him away for fear of losing not only his friendship but the relationship she has with his family. She’s always wanted a close family relationship like Liam has with his family and if things end badly between Talia and Liam she may jeopardize that.
This was not at all what I thought it was going to be. First off Marine’s don’t wear their cammies out in public… ever! So no wonder the customs guy at the airport thought she was a “soldier”… he thought she was in the Army flying around in her cammies. I also didn’t really feel for the characters, I was really detached from them. Thalia had a messed up life as a kid and you get a glimpse of what her mother is like when she goes to visit her mother while she’s getting evicted from her house due to her hoarding. The mother goes ballistic and starts thrashing around like a lunatic while Thalia is trying to hold her down. Liam has to step in and secures her down on the floor until the police can handcuff her. Liam had no clue what her family situation was but after what happens he is dead set on taking care of Thalia even if she refuses to acknowledge the attraction between them. I don’t know why but for some reason I just couldn’t connect with the characters.
I’m gonna have to leave this one blank. Why? Because I had a quote all picked out but then my Nook broke and I had to replace it, thus wiping in the book from my Nook along with all the highlights and notes that I had posted. :o(
I hate not being able to connect with the characters. Sorry you didn’t like it. I guess I wont be trying it out either.
