In the last book, we met Taryn the bar owner who captured the A-list actor, Ryan’s, heart. They had a lot of obstacles to over come in order to figure out where they were and in order to make their new relationship work. I LOVED that story but I feel like the story should have ended there. This book was just 400 pages filled with a gauntlet of drama in order to put these two characters through the ringer. I just felt like this entire book was unnecessary.
I was really invested in the story during the first half of the story but quickly lost interest. I mean there was just so much drama that even a drama queen would throw up their hands in surrender. You have the publicist who is doing everything to undermine Ryan, jealous fans, Taryn gaining stalkers, fan sending death threats, tabloids printing bogus stories, old flames resurface to rock the boat and a ton of insecurity on whether they can make it work. The only thing that kept me reading was holding out hope that the drama would end, but it never did. I wound up skipping to the end to see how it ended. Was I surprised? No. The author could have wrote the epilogue at the end of the first book and saved 380 pages.
“I started to have naughty fantasies about you being the mother of my kids when you were kicking my ass playing pool. By the time we finally hooked up, I honestly didn’t care one way or the other if I knocked you up. Feeling your skin on mine was worth taking the risk. And if getting you pregnant meant that you were tied to me somehow permanently, even better.”

That disappointing, I read a novella that could have been the same sort of thing (epilogue in the main book). Hope your next read is more enjoyable.
Oh Bummer! I totally agree tho. The drama can’t be tricky. I think the authors have to learn how to gives enough to keep us in the story but not too much that we just say..Forget this!..LOL, I don’t think I’d like this either, even though I’m a sucker for difficult romances, this seems overboard.

I liked this book a little more than you but I do agree with you in respects to the drama. I feel the story may have been better without it. The epilogue idea at the end of the first book is a good suggestion.
I loved the first book in the series. I was so sad that this one didn’t work for me. I was hoping for more Taryn and Ryan time.
