He’s undercover. She’s in over her head. Yoga instructor Kylie Roberts is the good twin. At least she was—until an accident forces Kylie to step into her twin’s sexy stilettos at a posh Hollywood “men’s club.” But nothing could’ve prepared Kylie for the dead body in the club’s parking lot or the ridiculously hot detective who insists the killer is targeting her regulars.  Detective Trevor McCade needs Kylie’s help to draw out the killer. It means long nights undercover and long dances where Kylie’s body tempts him with sensual promises. Dances that leave them both wanting more. But despite Kylie’s hidden identity and the danger lurking in the shadows, it’s only a matter of time before Kylie and Trevor take this undercover operation under the covers…

A lot of the story takes place in the strip club where Kylie is covering for her twin sister, Stacy, while she heals from a broken leg. Being identical twins, they pull the whole “switcharoo” thing a lot. However, when Kylie stumbles across a murder scene her first night of being Stacy, she finds herself smack dab in the middle of a investigation. That’s when she realizes that the man that she gave a lap dance to and who she couldn’t seem to keep her eyes off of, is the detective leading the case on the murders. It seems the murderer has a thing for taking out Stacy’s regulars, so Detective Travis, decides to become one of Stacy’s regulars in hopes of solving the case.

There are a lot of steamy scenes in this story. Travis pays for a VIP room every night that Kylie works. He has no idea that she’s not really Stacy and Kylie has no intention of telling him, considering it would cause Stacy to lose her job and possibly put Kylie in hot water for lying to a cop. So she plays the part and shows Travis what each of her regulars like when they request a private show.

“Unfortunately, “romantic” didn’t really describe the current situation. Dirty Dancing for a hot cop who would probably toss her in jail and throw away the key if he knew she’s lied about her identity and impeded his investigation? Not romantic. Try scary, dangerous, reckless.”

There’s also the suspense of the fact that the murderer is still out there with a connection to Stacy. So not only does Kylie have to be cautious, but with Travis playing his role, he puts himself in the hot seat to be next on the killers list. So there is always that game of, who’s the murderer?

This may have been the first book by Samanthe’s that I’ve read but it won’t be the last. I like that she doesn’t go over board in explaining things and has a way of bringing you close to the characters without a lengthy back story. She throws you right into the story and keeps you there right until the last word.

“A frisson of something new and highly thrilling shimmered through her. Power. An odd thing to find while bent over, grabbing her ankles, but it was. One look at his face confirmed it-he was her slave.” -Kylie

  1. Oooh yes. I will so be reading this one Kristin!! I can’t think of one I’ve read that’s been set in a strip club. Interesting! I like the added suspense too. Nice. Your favorite quote was excellent 🙂 Great review!
