ARE YOU PLAYING THE GAME OR IS THE GAME PLAYING YOU?
Vee doesn’t know if she has the guts to play NERVE, an anonymous online game of dares. But whoever’s behind the game knows exactly what she wants, enticing her with lustworthy prizes and a sizzling-hot partner. With Ian on her team, it’s easy to agree to another dare. And another. And another. At first it’s thrilling as the Watchers cheer them on to more dangerous challenges. But suddenly the game turns deadly. Will Vee and Ian risk their lives for the Grand Prize dare, or will they lose NERVE?
Would you rather be a watcher, or the performer? In the game of Nerve, you can either sign up to watch players compete in a game of dare, or you can be a player competing to win prizes. For Vee, she’s always been viewed as the meek sidekick, but when the opportunity to participate in Nerve pops up, she decides to push herself out of her comfort zone and compete as a player. The game is all for fun and is completely safe, right?
This story follows Vee as she competes in the game. She’s paired up with a boy names Ian who tends to be her rock throughout the game. He supports her during her dares, looks out for her when things get crazy, and helps push her to finish the task at hand. Some of their dares are pretty dangerous, but you always think that it’s just a game and that there’s some sort of safety measures in place. However, as the story progresses, you soon learn that the game isn’t exactly what you think.
This was a good story. The pacing was really good and I found myself not wanting to put the book down because I wanted to know what would happen next. I have to be honest, I would be more of a watcher than a player if I were Vee. I was kind of shocked that this wasn’t part of a series do to the open ending. If you’re looking for a high energy read that toes the line between fun and dangerous, this is a good one to pick up.
Ooh cool! I actually won an annotated copy of this book but still need to read it.
