Olivia Patton’s life just imploded. One night with sexy hacker Grady Donovan seems like the perfect, ego-soothing plan—until an epic snowstorm shuts down the city and thwarts her morning-after escape. Now the only walk-of-shame she’ll be taking is right back to Grady’s door.

Forced to actually talk, Grady and Olivia realize they can’t stand each other. Forget another round in the bedroom—if it wasn’t his apartment, she’d shove Grady outside to freeze. But with all the blistering sexual tension flying around, a second night with the hacker might be exactly what she needs…if they don’t kill each other first.

Each book in the Chase Brothers series is a standalone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

My thoughts…

One Sexy Mistake is the first book in the Chase Brother’s series that I’ve read. Actually, it’s the first book by Sarah Ballance that I’ve read. The story sounded like an interesting read. I mean, how many times do you hook up with a complete stranger on a dating app, get snowed in at their place for 24 hours, and then find out they are the hacker that cracked your security program thus causing you to be fired from your job. Yeah, can’t say I’ve read too many plots like this.

While I found One Sexy Mistake to be an entertaining and easy read, I did find the synopsis to be misleading. I wouldn’t say that these two can’t stand each other, they just both aren’t looking for a relationship. Grady was in a nasty manipulative relationship where the girl wanted everything to be picture perfect all the time and Olivia’s boyfriend leaked her security program early, thus causing her to get fired, and then broke up with her after having sex because he didn’t want to be held back by her and her poor reputation. So, yeah, it wasn’t that they couldn’t stand each other, it was just that they went in expecting a one-and-done kind of night and wound up being snowed in together.

However, while I enjoyed the story, the ending was super cheesy. It was just way over the top, which I get was the point, but still. This went from being a believable story to something you’d see in a movie. I’m also a bit confused by the epilogue and found it unnecessary. I was confused because all of a sudden we are surrounded by all these people with no explanation as to why or what’s going on. I could have done without the epilogue and cheesy ending. I felt like the book stood on its own without them.

One Sexy Mistake is a fun, light read that is kind of perfect for reading on a cold winter day. Why fantasize about being deserted on a tropical island with some hottie when you can fantasize being snowed in with a hacker hottie while you sip hot cocoa and watch the snow fall from outside your window. 😉

4 Thoughts on “Review: One Sexy Mistake by Sarah Ballance

  1. Thanks for the heads up, I’d go into it thinking they actually can’t stand one another.

  2. Oh gosh, it’s been in my TBR for quite some time now, mainly because I also find the sypnosis kinda catchy. But reading your review now, I don’t think it’ll be reading it soon. Hehe, I hate cheesy stories.

  3. Sounds cute for the most part. I love snowed in ones so that has me wanting it 😀 But ergs on the ending. That’s a shame.

  4. I really like the sound of this one, a shame the Blurb is a little misleading. The cover is cute though!
