Red Flags…

Too loud.
Too clingy.
Too much make-up.

I could go on and on. The other guys in the Single Dad’s Club would say I’m obsessed with finding them. But none of their kid’s mothers call a maximum-security prison home either, so their opinions mean shit.

Caterina Santora has her own list of red flags…

She’s too young.
She’s my client’s daughter.
She’s my five-year old’s camp counselor.

Even after repeating this mantra to myself every morning on the way to Lily’s summer camp, guess what happens the moment I see Cat? Yeah, that mantra turns into ride me, doggie style and reverse cowgirl.

Every. Damn. Time.

The fact that she doesn’t remember me from six years before grates on me until I don’t have it in me to leave her alone any longer. I have to have her. But our lives are opposites in every way. In no way compatible.

When we’re together all the complications fade away and I have to keep reminding myself, even if I can have her— I can’t keep her.

Real Deal is the first book in the Single Dads Club series. It follows Marcus, a single father in his 30’s, and Cat, a twenty-something year old camp counselor. Actually that’s not fair, Cat and Marcus are familiar with each other. You see, six years ago, Cat tried to seduce Marcus and he turned her down. She was barely legal, one of his customer’s daughter’s, and he had just found out he was going to be a father with some chick he had previously hooked up with. So, these two clearly have a history together, and it doesn’t just involve the fact that Cat is Marcus’ daughter’s camp counselor.

This was definitely a romance that ticked off a lot of boxes. There’s the whole single father angle. The huge age gap. Not to mention the whole second-chance at romance aspect. This story has a lot going on. I also liked that both Cat and Marcus have a close group of friends that play a rather big role in each other’s lives. Which leads me to believe that each of them will be paired with the other in the next books.

There’s not a whole lot of drama or craziness that goes on in this story. It’s just a short, cute romance between two people finding love and building a family together. I felt like there could have been a bit more meat on the bones, but all in all it was a cute read.
