The first rule of book club: You don’t talk about book club.

Nashville Legends second baseman Gavin Scott’s marriage is in major league trouble. He’s recently discovered a humiliating secret: his wife Thea has always faked the Big O. When he loses his cool at the revelation, it’s the final straw on their already strained relationship. Thea asks for a divorce, and Gavin realizes he’s let his pride and fear get the better of him.

Welcome to the Bromance Book Club.

Distraught and desperate, Gavin finds help from an unlikely source: a secret romance book club made up of Nashville’s top alpha men. With the help of their current read, a steamy Regency titled Courting the Countess, the guys coach Gavin on saving his marriage. But it’ll take a lot more than flowery words and grand gestures for this hapless Romeo to find his inner hero and win back the trust of his wife.

Gavin’s marriage is on rocky territory and is headed for divorce. His fellow teammate/best friend has a secret that he’s kept from Gavin… he’s part of a romance book club that helps guys understand the woman psyche. Gavin joins their romance reader group in the hopes of better understanding his wife and hopefully saving his marriage.

This was such a fun story to read. Gavin is just about as clueless as they come when it comes to romance. So, it’s no surprise that for the last 3 years, his wife has been unhappy. These two got married after Thea became pregnant. So with the being said, there’s some grey area when it comes to their relationship because of that. It doesn’t help that Thea’s parents got divorced and neither parent seemed to want to take on the responsibility of her and her sister. Then to add onto that Gavin’s stutter and insecurity around that. Let’s just say these two had a lot to work through, and that doesn’t even touch base on the whole Thea faking an orgasm for their entire marriage.

While this story is filled with jocks, they are sympathetic jocks. They care about Gavin and his relationship (even if they don’t even know know him) and they try to give him advice to help him out. This wasn’t a book filled with neanderthal alpha males. So, I really liked that you got to see the softer side to them. Plus, watching Gavin fumble his way through a romance novel and trying to figure out how to apply that to his life was pretty amusing.

This was a cute and entertaining story and I really liked the character growth in this one. Like I said before, both characters had to rewrite their story in order to move on a be happy. So I really liked that this wasn’t all just Gavin reading romance novels, although, that wouldn’t have been bad either. The whole crew in this story were interesting and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series and see Thea’s sister, Liv, get her happily ever after.

  1. I adored this book. The male characters all won my heart, and I love seeing a character fighting to save his marriage. I read a few romances like that at the same time as this book, and I was all about it.

  2. what fun…a bromance club. 🙂
