Mowglii has recovered from her wounds after defeating the ferocious Shere Khan, but a quiet day by the river turns into a battle for survival as the unpredictable Dewan of the Apes returns and the Payari Elephants face an attack from Bomani and the remains of the Tigers of the Shere. Mowglii soon learns that on Kipling Isle, there is no down time!
The second volume picks up right after the first volume. Bomani is out for blood for the death of his father. Mowgli’s still getting herself into situations that cause trouble. Akili swoops in to save the day. Meanwhile, Dewan is just as crazy an unpredictable as ever. However, the borders of tribes is blurring and it’s turning into a free for all in the jungle. It’s not just a fight between the wolves and the tigers anymore.
This is an interesting continuation of the story. I don’t want to go into too much detail and give anything away but the tigers go rogue and start attacking other tribes, there’s a banished tribe that resurfaces, and the human “cubs” find themselves in uncharted territory.
The artwork is still as amazing as the first book. I love that at the end of the story, there are pages of artwork done by various artists of these characters and their world. It’s really interesting to flip through them.
With the human “cubs” realizing that they aren’t the only ones who don’t look like their tribe and are sort of getting along with each other, I need to know what happens next. Do they end up putting a stop to all the death? Do they keep the war from happening again? Or do they charge headfirst into another battle to the death. All I have to say is.. that ending… WOW! I was not expecting that!

Whaaaat? This looks cool. I haven’t read a graphic novel in awhile, but these sound good.
I’ve read a couple of other Grimm retellings and so far this is by far my favorite. You should check it out if you ever come across it. There’s only three volumes to the story.

LoL! Yeah, I was worried when I saw the covers for these that they would be too sexed up but thankfully that hasn’t been the case yet. I mean, they are definitely buxom in that area but it doesn’t take away from the story.
LOL that’s quite the cover. Interesting to see how many people are involved with the making of the graphic novel.
Yeah. Yeah. 😛 I have to admit it’s got a lot of boobage going on. Thankfully the story itself is good and can hold it’s own.
