My thoughts…

When Aubrey is sent by her boss to cover a story about a band, she’s got some reservations. One, she’s a food journalist, and two, she tries to stay far away from the crazy kind of scenes, and those seem to revolve around musicians. To make matters worse, due to her covering last minute, her name isn’t even on the backstage list and she has to wait and stand in the crowd, watch the show, and then get backstage to talk to the band after the show. What she wasn’t planning on was the lead singer pulling her up on stage to do a body shot on as part of a stunt to get the crowd riled up. And she definitely was not planning to fall in love with him.

I love musician romances. Especially when the author takes you into their world. Thankfully, we not only get to see what it’s like to be a musician but we also get to see Aubrey do her thing as a journalist as well. Not to mention the dynamics between Lex and Aubrey. You see, Aubrey is this buttoned up professional who has a set of strict rules that she lives by. Meanwhile, you have Lex who is a musician who lives life to the fullest. Watching these two come together and compliment each other was what made the story so entertaining.

Of course there were complications and drama pops up to cause conflict for the characters but I think what I liked about that was that they didn’t just run and hide from it all. When something popped up, they dealt with it. I have to be honest, I’m a little sick of reading about romances where one tiny misunderstanding causes such a rift between the two, when all they needed to do was just talk to each other. Thankfully, that was not the case with Wanderlust.

I think my favorite part, hands down, was the epilogue. Was I surprised by it? No. But it put a shit-eating grin on my face and gave me the warm fuzzies. It was just a really cute ending that made me wish for more time with the characters. Who knows, maybe this will turn into a series and we get to read about the other band members falling in love.
