Sun, Fun, and Best Friends

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

I accidentally skipped last week’s wrap-up due to having company over. My best friend flew out last weekend and I kind of lost track of time. We went out and did something new every day she was here. Needless to say, this week has been a whirlwind of fun. We did everything from local hikes, checked out a couple of the beaches, went to a place where you could throw axes at a target, went to local breweries, and we even got to check out a local cat cafe. I’ve heard about them being in Japan, but I had no clue that there was one near my house. I loved sitting down with a cup of coffee, and getting to hang out with a bunch of cats. Plus, I loved that all the cats that were there were up for adoption. I wanted to take this one cat home with me. The owner kept saying he was the temperamental grump of the bunch, and I guess I just felt like we were kindred spirits or something. πŸ˜€ The best part is, he walked right into my friends lap and was loving all over her. I wish I could have adopted him, but my cat is not okay with new animals coming into the house. 😒

Since I wasn’t really home to do any reading or blogging, I have a lot of catching up to do. I had an absolute blast this past week. Since I live across the country from all my family and friends, having someone fly out to visit is a huge deal. It was also great because she wanted to do a bunch of things that I hadn’t had a chance to check out. Since we move around a lot due to The Mister’s job, we tend to not experience everything a location has to offer. However, I felt like we knocked out a ton of things in the San Diego area, and when his job relocates us to a new location, I will have no regrets. A lot of the things we did I tried to take pictures to share on my Instagram stories, but there was so much that a lot of it wasn’t posted.

Read this week

At the Stroke of Midnight is like a modern-day retelling of Disney princesses. It’s honestly a mash-up of Weeds and The Desperate Housewives. Cindy finds herself as a single parent when her husband randomly divorces her and skips town. Desperate to make ends meet, she decides to become “Cinderella” at Charming’s gentleman’s club. This is an insanely hilarious story.

When Dimple Met Rishi is turning out to be an adorable story. There was a lot of hype about this book when it came out and I can totally see why.

26 Thoughts on “Sun, Fun, and Best Friends

  1. It sounds like you had the perfect excuse to miss a Sunday Post! Coffee and cats sounds purrfect!

  2. Sounds like you had a blast. I wish my best friend could come and visit to spend some time together. She’s been trying to get me to go on a cruise but the timing just hasn’t been right and I also don’t want to get on a boat. I’ve been eyeing #murdertrending because it seems like it will be a good one. Have a great week!

    • It’s really hard when you live far away. I think our next get together may be a meet-up somewhere instead of flying to one or the others house. She did want to go whale watching while out here, but the last time I did it I was sick the whole time. So, I wasn’t too upset when we weren’t able to fit it into the schedule of stuff.

  3. I think it’s great that you got to do all those things with your friend. It must be difficult having to move around a lot. I should read When Dimple Met Rishi; it’s not exactly my thing, but I have heard too many great things about it to ignore it. I love your paw print socks! Have a wonderful week.

    • It’s a cute read. I’m only halfway through, but I love that it deals a lot with being an Indian American and how hard it is to fit in with both cultures while still being true to yourself.

  4. Ah, I love cat cafes! There is one in London that a friend takes me to every time I go visit her. My other half thinks I’m crazy for loving it so much as he doesn’t see how it’s different from sitting at home with our cats, lol.
My fun thing this week was getting a new kitten!
Good luck catching up on the blogging. Glad you had a wonderful time with family and friends.

    • A new kitten?!!? Here I am talking about a cafe and you have a baby kitty! <3 Congrats on the new addition. I totally just peeked at your post and saw. She's adorable.
I had a lot of fun at the cat cafe... but I can see his point. My cat curls up with me in the mornings while I drink my coffee. So, for free I can sit at home in my pj's, enjoy my coffee, and cuddle with my cat.

That’s wonderful that your friend came to visit you, and it sounds like you did a LOT of fun things. I think there is a cat cafe not too far from where I live and I really want to go and visit. πŸ™‚ I thought When Dimple Met Rishi was really cute too – glad you are enjoying.

    • We had a blast. Now I need to sit down and play catch up on everything I’ve missed over the past week. I don’t even want to look at my blog’s email account. LoL

  8. What a wonderful sounding week with your friend and of course reading would get dropped. Everything has their time and place. I read one series by Catherine Bybee and did enjoy it, hope this one is good too.

    • I actually just finished Not Quite Crazy yesterday and really enjoyed it. It’s the second book by her that I’ve read and I’ve liked them both. πŸ™‚

    • You definitely need a pair! I honestly found them at a small clothing printing shop. They are so thick and comfy. I’m sure you could find a pair online.
Have you watched the Hunger Games movies at least? LoL They are good books and I own the whole trilogy, but I’ve only read them the one time. It’s a unique story line. I didn’t think I would like it but decided to give a try when a friend kept bugging me to read it.

  10. I love the photos! It looks like you’ve been having a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy your new books.
