Konnichiwa!

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Thank you guys for bearing with me while I went through a huge move. I know that my blogging and communication has been lacking for a long time, but that move was insanely stressful. We had three separate movers come throughout the month of May to get our stuff. Our small shipment arrived the other week which contained my computer. However, my desk is still somewhere in transit. Thankfully, the Mister set up my computer last night on the kitchen table so that I could get back to work.

So let me catch you guys up…

Obviously, I moved from the states to Okinawa, Japan last month. If you follow me on Instagram, I tried to share stories of everything going on behind the scenes. It was a LOT! I had to ship my dog separately from us and the pet shipper stopped talking to me 2 weeks before we were to leave the country. Thus leaving me to scramble last minute to find another pet shipper. Then once I got that situated, it was a lot of 3+ hour drives to do vet appointments, drop off our vehicle to storage, and take my dog to the airport for his big flight… and that was all just a handful of days before we left for Okinawa. So, to say I was a bit stressed would be an understatement. However, we are here now and I am just so relieved and happy.

The island is beautiful and the people here are so nice. I’ve gotten to check out some locations since getting here, but there’s so much more to do and see. So far I’ve gone to a lot of various Okinawan grocery stores and farmers markets. This weekend we went to a local pottery village where everyone lives and makes their pieces of art right there. We also went to a botanical garden yesterday where I got to feed and pet capybara. Tomorrow my goal is to finally check out a beach, relax, and take it all in. Needless to say, I hit the ground running the moment I got my drivers license out here.

With all of that being said, I have not done much reading. Every time I try to start reading, I get distracted. I’m hoping that this week, after a weekend full of adventures, I will be able to settle down and catch up on my reading. However, I can’t make any promises. There’s just so much to see and do here. 😅

  1. Wow what a huge move! Enjoy exploring your new home!

Wishing you a great reading week

  2. I have enjoyed two Beth O’Leary books, so Road Trip is on my list.

Great photos, and thanks for sharing.

    Here are my WEEKLY UPDATES

  3. You post made me yearn for our days on Okinawa! Yes! It’s a beautiful island with so much to do and see. You have certainly hit the ground running! Enjoy your time there!

    • It confounds me that some people do not like this place and hate their time here. It’s so beautiful and peaceful. The locals are so nice. I definitely hit the ground running. The moment we got our licenses and a car, I make sure to go out and do something every weekend. 🙂

  4. It was stressful enough for us moving to another place in the same town. I couldn’t imagine moving overseas. Happy to hear you arrived safe and sound. Sounds like you are discovering some wonderful things!

    • It was not easy, that’s for sure. It had been a stressful rollercoaster since December and I’m very glad that it’s over with. Now I can relax, get back into the rhythm of things, and get some normalcy back.

Wow! Great looking pictures. I hope you enjoy your new adventures and the stress ends soon. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  6. Wow! I’m so jealous! Getting to travel and live in new places sounds like such a dream. Loved seeing your photos! Have a great week 🙂

    • It definitely has its perks. This was the toughest move we’ve done. Not only because it was to a foreign country, but also during a pandemic. Japan is under a state of emergency until end of Aug, so there were a lot hoops to jump through to get here.

  7. I can imagine that it was stressful. I’m glad you got moved and now can take in all the sites. I look forward to seeing more pictures.

  8. I’ve really been enjoying your pictures! It looks beautiful there and I’m glad you’re adjusting so quickly.

Moving the animals would be the most stressful for me.

    • I think already appreciating the Japanese culture and looking forward to learning about the Okinawan culture definitely helped prepare me. It’s like someone who has been dying to go to Disney, finally being able to go. I would like to take Japanese language classes, though. I can get by at the stores, but I would like to be fluent and actually talk to the locals instead of only being able to say the basic polite words and greetings.

  9. It looks like you’re having a blast! Like Karen said, moving my furbabies would be super stressful.

    Lindsi @ Do You Dog-ear?

    • Yes. That was what caused all of my stress and anxiety. It was not easy getting the animals over. Lots of red tape and it didn’t help matters that due to the pandemic, Japan is still under a state of emergency. So, it was a lot of researching, calling, and emailing people to get my furkids over here. I’m just glad it’s over.

  10. That is an amazing move!! I’ve never left the US, though I someday want to. I’m glad you got everything situated with shipping your dog. My 1 1/2 yr old golden retriever certainly would NOT do well with this kind of excitement.

I hope you can find your reading routine again, but enjoy exploring, as well!

    Happy reading!

  11. You always look so beautiful! Glad you made it safely and are getting to explore. I had a friend who was in the military a zillion years ago who visited and found so many deals on handmade suits. Be well and sending lots of hugs, RO

  12. Wow girl!! Look at you. I didn’t know you had moved to Japan! That is the coolest thing ever. Hope things will calm down now that you are getting settled. I expect more pictures of all the incredible beauty! LOL
