New Plants and Books Equals One Happy Girl

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

I know I talked about plants last week, but I am even more excited about the plants I got yesterday. We went to our local nursery because The Mister wanted a bougainvillea. We wound up not finding the one he wanted, but I found these two awesome plants! The one of the left is a Cylindrical Snake Plant aka African Spear and the one on the right is a Pilea Peperomioides aka Chinese Money Plant. The Pilea is a plant that took me forever to find online last year for a friend who really wanted one. I wound up dropping $30 on a tiny 2″ pot to be shipped to me. So, imagine my surprise when I rounded the corner and there were a whole bunch of these plants for sale! There was no way I was walking out of the store without one.

Aaand if you haven’t guessed by now, I’m a bit obsessed with plants. If I could, I would be one of those people whose house is covered in plants from top to bottom. I’m starting to feel like maybe I need to start a plant discussion post or something for the blog. 😂

New Arrivals

Real Kind of Love. So excited to have received a copy of Tight Quarters.Β  Kiss of the Royal sounds like it’s going to be a fun book to read. I’m taking part in the Alpha book tour and since I haven’t read the series yet, I have a bit of catching up to do. So, I got Infinity, Omega, and Alpha this week.

Thank you Carina Press, Macmillan, and Entangle Teen for the review copies.

Read last week

Real Kind of Love was a cute read about fake relationships. I wasn’t wowed by it, but it was a good read. Slammed was really good, but then again, so it pretty much everything Colleen Hoover writes. I’d been putting it off for so long because it just didn’t sound all that entertaining. However, the synopsis doesn’t even give you any of what goes on in the story. So, I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events once I started reading. I finally got back to the Dragonfire series and started Kiss of Fury. I was not a fan of the first book and was not overly looking forward to reading this one. However, I felt like it slowed down a lot more on the dragon stuff, and allowed me to get my bearings. I still wish there was more romance. I felt like that part of this paranormal romance was an afterthought.

Currently Reading

I only just started Tight Quarters, but I’m already really enjoying it. Navy SEAL,Β Petty Officer Bacon, gets paired up to babysit the journalist who’s been assigned to their group. No one is happy to have a journalist in their midst. However, the more time that Bacon gets stuck hanging out with Spencer, the more he finds himself loosening up around him. Apparently there’s a hitch in one of the ops and these two get separated from the rest of the team. I haven’t made it that far yet, but I am looking forward to the moment when these two get some alone time. πŸ˜‰

Also, don’t forget that I’m giving away signed copies of the dark erotic romance series by DT Dyllin [HERE].

  1. There are so many cool different plants out there! And a feature on plants might be a great idea! The snake plant looks cool, I wonder how big that one gets?

Love the Star Wars IG pics! And those Accardo covers are nice too.

    • They can grow as tall as 7ft. Which is something I didn’t know until I just looked it up. LoL I really hope this thing doesn’t get that big. It would make moving with it an interesting experience.

  2. I love the new plants. Now you have me wanted to add some more greenery to my space!

    • I didn’t get a green thumb until this past year and half. Now that I’ve finally got my plant groove going, I’ve been getting going a bit plant crazy.

Lots of awesome books this week. I love your photos. I wish I had a talent for that. Have a great week of reading!

    Mary my #Sunday Roundup #17!

    • The African Spear is a succulent. It likes to have a lot of indirect light, but can live in low-light just fine. Snake plants are fun and easy plants to keep because they can thrive in low-light conditions, and don’t need a lot of water. They kind of prefer to be forgotten rather than smothered with attention. I have a small Mother-In-Law’s Tongue snake in my bedroom which doesn’t get much light and it’s been growing just fine over the last year.

As for the Accardo book, I haven’t started them yet. I hope to get to the first one this week. πŸ™‚

Well done in finding a bargain, the money plant I love and the African one is quite unique. I like unique plants…is it like a cactus with min upkeep?

How is the Jus Accardo series? I’ve been seeing it around a lot.

    Love your bookstagram too!

  5. Your plants look very cool. I have a lot of plants, too. Have a great week!

  6. Really interesting plants. I like them outside but only occasionally bring them in. I need to do some buying for my winter pots, another thing to add to my task list. Loving your instagram photos. Happy reading for the week.

    • Thanks. I thought they were really interesting looking. I’m an absolute sucker for plants. Not sure what I’m going to do when we move to the desert in a few months. πŸ™

  7. Those are cool plants! I wind up killing all plants πŸ™

    • LoL That was me for the longest time. The only plant I could keep alive was my pothos. That thing has been with me for over ten years and it’s gone through so much neglect. I’m hoping I can keep this plant mojo thing going.

  8. LOL yay for finding some surprise new additions!

    • Girl, I find plants everywhere. The Mister always has to rein me in. It’s so hard walking away though. I almost bought a mini rose bush and lavender plant yesterday at the grocery store. LoL I have some serious plant issues.

I love plants…unfortunately I can’t seem to keep any alive. Okay, that’s not completely true. I have a succulent that’s still alive but it’s grown out like 8 inches from the pot in search of light. I don’t know why. It’s in a window and I get a lot of sun. *sigh* Cool book haul as well! I’m excited you’re enjoying Annabeth Albert’s book…I’m eager to start that series. πŸ™‚

    • Plants are tricky to figure out what they like. However, once you find their routine and their favorite spot in the house, they pretty much just do their thing. I would put the succulent in a south facing windowsill if it isn’t already. That’s where I have my cacti and succulents and they have been doing great. πŸ™‚
