I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
April was a super busy month at work due to the super bloom, Coachella music festival, and spring break. Needless to say, there was never a quiet moment at work. I was still able to get some reading in, but I was dead on my feet every night after work. I’m so glad the busy season is over and things are starting to slow down a bit. While the flowers were pretty amazing, the massive jump in tourists visiting was just a bit overwhelming for some of us here in the small town. When your hairdresser is talking about the craziness when she’s cutting your hair, you know everyone is feeling it. Ha!
I did take a road trip with a friend earlier in the month to check out a farm sanctuary. I was really excited to get to walk on a farm and see all the animals, but I definitely wasn’t expecting the PETA vibe. I should have known, but I was so focused on getting to see farm animals that were rescued and got to live out their lives in a happy place, that I didn’t even stop to think that most of the animals weren’t coming from neglect or turn-ins so much as meat farms. Whoops. :face palm: It was still cool to get to see and pet the goats, pigs, and cow, but I definitely felt like the odd man out. Especially since I wasn’t vegan like everyone else, and I was wearing a leather wrist band. I still support what they are doing, and it was heartbreaking to hear all the things that each particular animal faced before they reached the sanctuary. I’d love to one day own a farm where chickens and other various farm animals can just chill and have a good living space.
