Puppies, Princesses, and Girl Power!

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

On Friday I went whale watching for the first time on the west coast. I’ve been living in California for the last eight years and I’ve never gone whale watching out here. However, there were a group of people from my husband’s work who were interested in going out on a tour before the end of the season. I was a little worried that I would get seasick, but ultimately decided to go and hope for the best. I am really glad I did because it was so much fun! We got to see a resident grey whale that apparently hangs out in this one shallow area near the beginning of our trip out to the open sea. Then when we were way out in the ocean we got to see a mom and calf grey whale. We lost sight of them for a bit and then all of a sudden they were resurfacing on the other side of the boat with two other grey whales who seemed to pop up out of nowhere. There were some seals swimming out in the waves. A bunch of sea lions basking on a bait fish dock. We also got to see a pod… or more likely, pods of dolphins playing and jumping around in the water. There were just so many of them. I wound up taking a video of them because there was no way I was going to capture it in a single picture. It was insane. So yeah, I had a ton of fun. The best part is… I didn’t get sick! I was actually laughing like a loon, riding the waves like a crazy cowgirl, while everyone around me was groaning. 😂

I purchased an ecopy of Punk 57 yesterday. I’ve been wanting to read this book for over a year and decided that due to the two DNF this week, I’d lift up my spirits with a new book.

Read last week

I loved In Bed with the Beast. I didn’t want their story to end. However, Moxie was a DNF for me. I love the cover, but the story was just not for me. Rescuing the Receiver sounded like such a win, but I couldn’t get past the heroine and how judgemental she was. That chick really brought down the story for me.Β  The Hooker and the Hermit was another DNF for me this week. Which is really sad because I’ve been dying to read this book for years.

  1. Congrats on not getting sick πŸ™‚ I’ve never been whale watching, cause they don’t live here πŸ˜€ so that’s pretty cool that you did!
    Have a great week πŸ™‚

    • Thanks. I went whale watching over 10 years ago in Boston. I spent the entire time in the cabin eating crackers and hating life. I almost didn’t go this time because I was worries I would be sick and miserable the whole time again. I’m so glad that wasn’t the case.

  2. oh yay….I have been eager to read In Bed with the Beast for sure!!

Although I will say that DNF is always tough right especially with books you have been looking forward to

  3. It’s great that you weren’t sick. Have a lovely week and happy reading!

I always wanted to go whale watching – it must have been amazing. I would like to go up the coast of Maine (east coast is where I live) to do it tho. Enjoy your week ahead!

    Mary my #Sunday Roundup #15!

    • That would be awesome! I have been whale watching in Massachusetts, many years ago. I don’t really remember much since I was in the cabin the whole time. I hope you get a chance to do it though. It’s an amazing experience. Just be sure to bring motion sickness medicine. πŸ˜‰

  5. Oh that sounds like so much fun. I grew up in California so I’ve been out whale watching a few times as a kid and it was so much fun.

  6. Oh no to the Hooker and the Hemit. it looked like so much fun! It was free though right?

I liked Moxie but nearly as much as everyone else did. The romance was kind of awful too.

Loved you whale/dolphin watching pics this weekend.

    • Thank goodness it was free. I would have been really upset if I caved and bought it, only to find out I hated it. Moxie was just too overboard for me… and I didn’t care for the MC. :\

I’m glad you liked them. I always wonder who actually looks at my stories on there. I just don’t want to blast my page with a ton of random pictures and videos. So, the story section tends to be my “what I’m up to” platform. πŸ˜€

  7. I do ok on bigger boats, it is the little ones that make me ill. Whale watching is on my bucket list! Have a lovely week!

  8. Wow that would be so fun! We’ve been dolphin watching in Florida but never whale watching- sounds like an amazing experience! And seals too? Fun!

    • In all honesty, I think the dolphins were my favorite part from the trip. There were just so many of them and they were jumping out of the water all over the place.

  9. Whale watching is fun. I did that in Alaska when I was a teenager. I was also worried about getting sick because I usually throw up on boats, but it wasn’t too bad. Have a great week!

  10. I have been whale watching on Cape Cod before and loved it. Glad you had the chance to go and saw some whales. Hope you enjoy your new reads.

    • I believe that Cape Cod is where I went with my family over 10 years ago. I don’t remember much from that trip since I spend the majority of the excursion in the cabin trying not to be sick. Which is why I was hesitant to go this time around. I’m glad I did though, because I had a lot of fun. πŸ™‚

  11. I forgot to ask about In Bed with the Beast lol my attention span is short so thanks for the reminder!! And YAY for whale watching, that sounds like so much fun. Glad you didn’t get sea sick!!

I’ve lived in California my entire life and I’ve gone whale watching maybe twice. Once in school and once with my family. Come see what I’m reading

    • Oh wow! I’ve been twice on the east coast (where I’m from). It was the same thing, I went once on a school trip and once with my family. I feel like I saw more in the San Diego bay than I did on the east coast.

  13. The whale watch trip sounds absolutely amazing and so happy you didn’t get sick.

  14. Oh yay, I’m glad you didn’t get sick on the boat. I went whale watching the last time I was in California and had such a wonderful time. I think we saw more dolphins and sea lions than whales but it was an all around amazing experience.
