Rain Rain Rain… I love it!

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Mailbox Monday, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

It’s rainy season and the start of typhoon season here in Okinawa. So, I feel like I will have a lot more time to sit around and read with all the rainy weather in store for us.

After stepping down from the organization that was causing me a bunch of stress, and just spending time listening to my body and getting back on track, I feel rejuvenated. I also took the plunge and signed up for Kindle Unlimited. There are just so many books on there that I’ve wanted to read but were not available at my local library. So, I’ve been trying to get through as many books as I can before my trial month is up. So if you have any recommendations, let me know in the comments.

Another fun this I did was I decided to take the plunge and start a YouTube channel. I’ve been sharing my adventures with friends and family on my personal Facebook. However, Facebook only allows you to upload up to about 6 minutes or so. So, after much pushing from friends, I decided to make a YouTube channel so that I can share more of my adventures on a larger scale. Which also means that I now have a reason to get out there and explore. I’m trying to treat this as sort of a vlog on the fun things I do (not day to day life) so that years from now, I can look back and relive some of the fun things I did while I lived in Okinawa Japan. So, if you have any recommendations on cameras, editing software, and just how to navigate this new platform, I would greatly appreciate it. <3

  1. All your adventures sounds very interesting and good for you for starting your own YouTube channel! That is a great way to share your adventures.

The only book I recognize on your stack, is The Unhoneymooners. Still need to read it though…

Have a good week and month ahead and happy reading!

  2. I am glad that you shared your YouTube channel with us. I will take a look. I read Unhoneymooners a while ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Have a great week ahead.

  3. While snuggled up indoors, listening to the rain and reading, sounds lovely, I have to admit ‘typhoon season’ sounds more than a little terrifying!

    • We got here last year during typhoon season but never saw a typhoon. I’m slightly afraid of them, and the idea I’m on an island and can’t just drive north or inland like folks down in FL can. Here’s to hoping for another mild summer :fingers crossed:

  4. I have Kindle Unlimited too but I don’t take advantage of it as I should. I need to since I am paying for it, but need to do better with balancing my reading to fit it in. Congratulations on starting a YouTube channel, I hope you love it. I started a family blog when we lived overseas to keep up with our adventures, I love looking back and seeing things I had forgotten about. Have a great week.

    • That’s what I’m aiming for. A way for me to look back and all the fun stuff we did/experienced while here. I was only going to keep it on FB since I tend to be a very private person. However, any time I wanted to find “that video” it took a LOT of scrolling. So, hopefully YT will be easier when it comes to organizing and finding videos down the road.

  5. Rainy days are the best for reading! Unfortunately I keep getting stuck having to work on those days and not being at home to just sit and read. I loved The Unhoneymooners. And I have the Ice Planet Barbarians book to read, need to do that! Have a great week!

    • Booooo! Hopefully you’re able to get some rainy days on your days off. I actually liked it when it rained while I was at work. However, I worked at a National Park. So rain meant slow days, which meant I could read between visitors. LoL

  6. I use KU a lot. When I get review requests, a lot of the indie authors’ books are on KU, so I pick it up there. It gives them a boost and introduces me to new books.

    • Oooooh. That’s a good point. I didn’t know that was a thing that benefited the author. I’ve been debating on keeping it after the trial or not. I’m trying to tell myself that it’s no different from Netflix. I pay a monthly fee for that and don’t get to keep anything I’ve watched. The jury is still out, though. I need to find a good list of books that I will want to read to justify keeping it.

  7. Your vlog channel sounds great! I think living in Okinawa (or anywhere in Japan) would be fascinating.

    • It’s very fascinating. I’ve been here a year (come the 10th of June) and I’m always walking around with my camera out, looking like a tourist. I don’t think that “aw” factor will ever wear off.

  8. I’m glad you’re feeling rejuvenated. 🙂 I’m so jealous that you’re in Japan. I’ve wanted to go to Japan ever since I was a small child.

    • Hopefully the borders open up and you can come out to visit. It’s a very beautiful and magical place. I’m partial to Okinawa over Tokyo (only place I’ve been other than Oki). However, that’s mainly because I’m not a big city person. Even though Tokyo was pretty awesome, and I’d definitely go back. I just like the slower lifestyle of the island versus the big city.

  9. It looks like you are having so many fun adventures!!! I hope you had a fun time reading Death!

  10. Your vLog sounds fun! I susbscribed to it!
