Blind Attraction is a fun celebrity romance. I mean, wouldn’t it be crazy if you went to see one of your favorite bands play, and you wound up catching the eye of one of the band members? That’s exactly what happens with Alana. She catches the eye of the lead guitarist, Mitch, while attending a small, private record release promo show. Not only does he seem to play just to her, but he comes out and asks her to join him backstage for a drink after the show. What both assumed would be a one-night stand of fun takes a sudden turn when there’s an altercation that leaves Alana’s vision impaired and in the immediate care of Mitch. While Blind Attraction was a bit out there in terms of reality, it was still an enjoyable read.

Since Alana loses her eye sight for a while, Mitch takes it upon himself to care for her. He has her stay with him in his hotel room, and he even takes her with him to radio interviews. The way he treated her was precious although sometimes made me roll my eyes. I mean, he’s used to calling groupies to join him for a drink after the show and usually it’s not just drinks they enjoy while backstage. However something is different with Alana and he soon finds himself falling head over heels in love with her in a matter of a few days. I just, I wasn’t buying it. Not to mention Alana’s lived a very sheltered life. She’s never been in a major city, she’s never really been around other men, and she’s had it drilled into her that men are bad. Yet, when some stranger gets her behind closed doors she turns into this wanton. Not to mention that she also fell in love with this guy she just met within the few days.

Even though the entire thing was way too unbelievable, I still found myself flipping the pages to see what happened next. Plus, I was really intrigued by Blake’s character. He is kind of Mitch’s best friend in the band so he’s always around. There’s also a scene where he sort of joins them behind closed doors. Which was another thing that I found hard to believe given Alana’s character. Maybe if she was written in a different way and wasn’t so naive, sheltered, and brainwashed by her mother, I would have been able to go with the flow a bit more. Regardless, I’m stoked that Blake’s story is next. I can’t wait to see the romance between him and his internet friend/sobriety mentor blossom.

“It took balls to throw dirty underwear at anyone, let alone a celebrity who could call you out in front of thousands of people.”

7 Thoughts on “Review: Blind Attraction by Eden Summers

  1. Srsly, it has been aaaaages since I read a book with rockstars etc. Strange

  2. Even if it is not a bit more it looks good in a whole there

  3. Sounds entertaining even w/ being unbelievable lol

  4. When I hear or think unbelievable, I tell myself…it’s FICTION. 🙂 Just go with it.

  5. I have to admit that a near naked man with a guitar did grab my attention(lol), but like you, I would have a hard time believing that a man with that type of character would fall in love so quickly. I kind of would have expected he would have used some strange tactics to get her in bed first. Also, living a sheltered background and hanging out with a rockstar is questionable. (lol) I’m not sure of the book length but it kind of sounds like this story was a good one that just needed a little more development. Glad you found some fun it though. Hugs…RO

  6. Sounds sort of silly yet endearing lol

    For What It’s Worth

  7. Yea, usually why I don’t gravitate toward rock star romances. Seems like a lot of it is often unbelievable. Hope the next one is better!
