When a vicious attack leaves 25-year-old Clementine Johns with no memory, she’s forced to start over. Now she has to figure out who she was and why she made the choices she did – which includes leaving the supposed love of her life, tattoo artist Ed Larsen, only a month before.

Ed can hardly believe it when his ex shows up at his tattoo parlor with no memory of their past, asking about the breakup that nearly destroyed him. The last thing he needs is more heartache, but he can’t seem to let her go again. Should they walk away for good, or does their love deserve a repeat performance?

Could you imagine waking up one day in the hospital, with no idea who you are or how you got there? Well, that’s what happens to Clem. She was brutally attacked and has no memory of her life. She has no clue who she is, who her sister is, or any memory of her life. Not only is Clem trying to figure out her past, but she’s also trying to come to terms with her new life.

Clem was a character that I really liked. You get the sense that she might not have been that great of a person before her attack. However, she’s not the same person anymore. Not only do those around her notice the changes in her, but Clem notices the way people act around her, as well. She even refers to her personality before the attack as a completely different person. Watching Clem try to juggle her past and present while trying to find out who she was, was such a huge part of the novel. Sure there was a lot of romance as Clem and Ed reconnect, but ultimately I felt like a lot of this story was about Clem finding herself again.

While the romance was that of a second chance romance, it had a completely different vibe to it. For Ed, he was seeing his ex-girlfriend and was having a hard time separating the two. So, there were times when he’d get snippy with her or treat her as if she was the same person she was before. Clem looked at Ed as a whole new person. With not knowing anything about their past history or time together, she had to relearn his personality all over again. So, it was a second chance romance and it wasn’t because Clem wasn’t the same person she was before and had no knowledge of her past.

Repeat was a story that I quickly devoured. I really like Kylie Scott’s stuff and this story was no exception. Clem’s character was one that really shined through. You felt her inner struggle and her frustration at losing her memory and having to rebuild her life again. This was a well-written romance and one I’d recommend if you’re in the market for a second chance romance.

2 Thoughts on “Review: Repeat by Kylie Scott

  1. Kristin great review. I think I would like this one. How awe full it would be to wake up with no memory. I have read a book with a hero with this and loved the idea of it. Maybe this will be the first book I read for me a new author. I have been eyeing her other two series for some time now.

  2. I’ve red a few reviews for this one and it sounds good.
