Despite his billions in the bank, Koenraad is a shark shapeshifter haunted by secrets and regrets. Unable to move on with his life, he relentlessly patrols the waters near the island he once considered home. Fate puts the beautiful Monroe in his path, and duty demands he offer his services, but one look into her eyes and he knows the lonely, frightened woman secretly yearns for adventure.

Monroe is having a hard time getting into the vacation spirit. She’s surrounded by powdery white sand and swaying palm trees, but she’s terrified of the ocean. When her tour boat breaks down at sea, she’s thrilled to skip the so-called trip of a lifetime. However, a gorgeous man with a sleek yacht is determined to change her mind… and maybe her life.

*This review if for the whole series. *

This is a serial series. Meaning that each book just sort of stops. There are no beginning, middle, and conclusion to each book. So if you read the first one and enjoy it, you might as well just purchase the rest of the books in order to read a complete story. Which is why I’m reviewing the series as a whole instead of each individual book.

Monroe is on vacation in the Caribbean for her friend’s wedding. They had plans to go snorkeling and scuba diving the day after the wedding but apparently the food wasn’t properly stored/cooked because everyone got food poisoning. Everyone except Monroe who bailed out early before dinner was served. Now she’s guilt-tripped into going on the snorkeling adventure because otherwise all that money put down is wasted. Her trip is just not going right at all because the boat they are on breaks down leaving them stranded in the ocean. In Koenraad’s waters. He finds Monroe interesting and offers to take her snorkeling himself while the tour hosts get their boat repaired. And that is how the shark shifter and the human afraid of open water fell in love.

I can honestly say that I’ve never read a shifter book that involved a shark… and I love it! Seriously, how have sharks not made it big yet? They bring so much to the table. Not only do they have a whole new world when in the ocean but they are the biggest predator in the water. I love the fact that the author wrote the book in Koenraad’s and Monroes POV. We get Koenraad when he’s in shark form swimming through the water and you experience what it would be like to be a shark. It was really cool. Not to mention the fight scenes that take place throughout the series. It was a really interesting twist to a usual shifter story.

This series could be classified as erotic paranormal romance. I mean, there was a lot of interesting storyline taking place throughout the series. You have Koenraad who is trying to find a cure for his son who can’t shift from shark to human, his struggles with the council and their schemes to see him put down, his interesting relationship with Monroe who is not only afraid of the open water but absolutely terrified of sharks, and the sickness that is floating around in the water causing other shifters to become ill. There really was never a dull moment in the story. Then on top of that you throw in some really steamy sex scenes. It was one hell of a story. I mean, you read paranormal romance where the shifters animal instinct try to take over during the mating frenzy. Well, let me just tell you that sharks take it to a whole new level. I kid you not, werewolves, vampires, dragons have got nothing on sharks. These massive fish have a lot going on in the mating department. They have two phalli, there’s a lot of biting and roughness while mating, and they also mate underwater… which is a little difficult for a human to partake in as Monroe finds out. Sharks are the shiznit and more authors need to get on board.

My one and major complaint and it really made me almost bring this down to a 3 star is that I felt like for a series, as a whole, a lot was left open or forgotten when the end finally came. There were a few things that I would have liked to be touched up on or brought up before the series concluded. In the end this was a great series though. I really wish more authors would write shark shifters. It was a really interesting storyline because of that.

12 Thoughts on “Review: Shark Shifter Paranormal Romance Series by Cleo Peitsche

  1. That’s true, I never read about shark-shifters before, I guess I’ll have to try 🙂

  2. I have to admit I have never read a shark shifter before. For that alone I’m willing to try the first book.

    • The first book is free but the other cost money. Not sure if they are still on sale but I think it came to $6 in the end… which is a bit steep for an ebook but after the first book I was way too invested to stop.

  3. I am not a huge fan of serials, and all the loose ends make me leery. Thanks Kristin!

    • Oh I hate serials. I had no idea that this was one. It’s not classified as such anywhere. It was labeled as a novella but by my definition of a serial, this is a serial series. When you read all the books from start to finish you get one story… not 5. :\ Had I known that before picking up the first book I would’ve passed but I got roped in with the first book and then couldn’t stop myself from reading the rest.

  4. I’ve heard about this one but wasn’t sure how “fishy” the romance would get. I know, I’m horrible lol. This does sounds really interesting though, I love shifters so I’ll have to take a peak at it. Great review though:)

  5. Wow never read a shark shifter before. Glad you enjoyed it. I will have to look into it. Lately I have been looking around some shifter series and it seems they are pretty much all billionaires.

    • Yeah, I’m not into the whole billionaire thing. I know that the MC in this book is one but he doesn’t appear to be. He has a nice house and boats but it’s not like he goes to executive meetings and wears suits and feels superior to everyone.
