Shredding the Gnar

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

The Mister surprised me with my very first snowboarding trip! I’ve never been snowboarding before, but have always wanted to go. Since we’ve been getting quite a bit of rain here, the ski resort a few hours up north has getting a lot of snow. So, the Mister took Friday off so we could go up and have some fun. It is not as easy as it looks. Oooweeee It’s a ton of leg work, and since I was terrified of the speed, I pretty much did squatted breaking the entire time down the mountain. Let’s just say that everything from my nose down to my toes is sore. It was an absolute gorgeous day though, and while I found out that snowboarding isn’t for me, I’m glad I got to go.

Read last week

What I thought was just going to be your typical falls-in-love-with-boss story turned out to be so much more. Not Quite Crazy is a wonderful story about love and family. I really need to go back and read the previous books in the series now.

30 Thoughts on “Shredding the Gnar

  1. Cool about trying snowboarding! Although I dislike the “falls-in-love-with-boss” trope, you make Not Quite Crazy sound very good. Enjoy your week!

    • I think I’m pretty much a sucker for any sort of romance. LoL I liked that this one surpassed my initial impression of the story and turned out to be so much deeper than just a frivolous romance.

  2. Oh, that’s so cool! Snowboarding is awesome, but I think I’d be scared to try πŸ˜€ there’s something scary about both legs being stuck on ONE object πŸ˜€ I hope you didn’t fall? Although I get you about the leg muscles.. I’ve been suffering something similar lately, due to VR (don’t ask, LOL…)

I hope you have a great week πŸ™‚

    • Yeah… I wasn’t a huge fan of being strapped into the board. There were a lot of times where I felt like I was losing control and just sort of fell down in an attempt to stop myself from gaining too much speed. So, I fell a lot, and wound up hurting myself pretty good. I’d much prefer a VR game over snowboarding. I’ve never played before, but at least I’m on my feet in one spot and not zipping down a mountain. LoL

  3. Snowboarding sounds awesome…despite the sore body. I would probably kill myself! LOL Have an awesome week.

    • That’s what I was most afraid of. We did the “beginner slope” which was an absolute lie! LoL There needs to be a slope between the bunny hill and the “beginner” level. I only made it down the beginner slope twice before throwing in the towel and calling it a day. Snowboarding is just not for me. I’m more of a sit on the couch and read kind of person. THAT is more my speed. πŸ˜‰

Snowboarding sounds like such fun. I am glad you had a good time. We want to go snow tubing. Maybe soon we have so many slopes here we should. Have a great week of reading!

  5. Snowboarding sounds like a lot of fun! I would probably end up with some broken bones though. Lol.. Have a great week ahead!!!

  6. Snowboarding sounds like a workout. Glad you were able to try something new. #murdertrending is one I want to read because it seems like it would be a good read.

  7. I love your green themed book pic!

I don’t think snowboarding looks easy. I’m sore just looking at your picture lol Glad you enjoyed it though. That’s a fun surprise.

    • Thanks, Karen. It was hard trying to figure out what Irish/green things to incorporate in my photo since I have a lot. Snowboarding was a lot harder than I thought. I knew I would fall but I had no clue how incredibly sore I’d be.

  8. I’ve only been to the snow a couple of times! Awesome you had a go.
Lots of goodies there… Love the green book pic on Instagram!

    • I haven’t seen snow like that in 10 years. It was beautiful… until I tried gliding down a mountain with my feet strapped to a board. Ha! I’m glad I went though. It was something I always wanted to do. πŸ™‚

  9. Yay for trying snowboarding! I think that any type of winter sport would be bad for me. I struggle to stay upright on flat, non slippery ground…
    Hope you enjoy your books!

Ooh snowboarding! Looks fun. And yeah I imagine one would be sore afterwards lol.

Love that cover or #murdertrending. That’s one I need to get…

  11. Love the cover for The One You Can’t Forget! But it’s only coming out in June…

    • I wanted to start reading it immediately, but there are a couple of books I need to read before I can get to it. If you haven’t read the first book in the series, I highly recommend it. The Ones Who Got Away was one of my favorite reads from last year. πŸ˜‰

  12. Oh how fun! I never went snowboarding but skiing. it does look like a workout. lol Glad yall had a good time πŸ™‚

    • Skiing is no joke either. I saw so many people get their skis twisted, and all of a sudden there were limbs flailing, and skis flying every which way. I took one look at that and gave it a big ole NOPE. LoL I just think I will leave winter sports to the professionals.

  13. I bet the snowboarding was fun though, I’d just lie on a board and go down as I’d feel near to the ground! Good to hear the Catherine Bybee book turned out well for you, I read another series of hers and liked it.

    • There was one point where I fell in the middle of a slope and people were whizzing past me. So, I just did a “crab walk” position but rested on my arms, and slid down the section to get to bottom so that I could shimmy off to the side and out of peoples way. πŸ˜€

  14. Oh wow, I’ve skied many times but I’ve never been snowboarding. I’ve never been brave enough! Kudos for giving it a go and I’m betting the pain was totally worth it. πŸ™‚

    • It was a lot of fun. I’m glad I got the chance to go. I’m just not a fan of zipping down the mountain with my feet strapped to a board. LoL I much prefer waiting down at the resort, reading a book. Ha!

  15. I adore your LUKE’S cup!!! I am huge fan of Gilmore Girls πŸ™‚

    • Thanks. I’ve wanted one for a very long time. I was able to go to a Luke’s Diner pop-up the other year and every time we drove past it, I would always point out what used to be Luke’s. So, for my b-day the Mister got me a cup so that I could finally throw away the paper cup I’d still been holding onto from that experience.
