Sunday Wrap-Up #41

Sunday Wrap-Up is all about sharing the books and book related items that I’ve picked up recently. I also recap what went on last week and let you in on what’s coming up. I link up my post to Sunday Post, Bought, Borrowed & Bagged, Showcase Sunday, and Stacking the Shelves.

This week was my Mr. and my 10 year anniversary. We didn’t do anything lavish but we did go out to eat at a local bar. I know that sounds strange but they had really interesting sounding food. For instance, the Mr. got smoked ghouda mac n cheese with roasted cauliflower and jalapenos, and I got a quinoa burger with onion marmalade and blue cheese. However, that wasn’t what drew me to the place. It was the salted caramel gelato Smores sundae that we shared. I had seen pictures of it on Yelp and knew right then and there that was our place. You see, it all goes back to our first Valentine’s day together. The Mr and I spent our night roasting Smores in the broiler (our hometown is an area that gets 4ft of snow every winter) and Smores has just been our thing since. I will say this though, it definitely hasn’t felt like I’ve been married 10 years. Then again, time flies when you are happy, and how could I not be happy with a husband who on our special day just wants to go home, cuddle up on the couch, and watch Harry Potter. ♥

Genre: Dystopian Young Adult
Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

After a brutal nuclear war, the United States was left decimated. A small group of survivors eventually banded together, but only after more conflict over which family would govern the new nation. The Westfalls lost. Fifty years later, peace and control are maintained by marrying the daughters of the losing side to the sons of the winning group in a yearly ritual.

This year, it is my turn.

My name is Ivy Westfall, and my mission is simple: to kill the president’s son—my soon-to-be husband—and restore the Westfall family to power.

But Bishop Lattimer is either a very skilled actor or he’s not the cruel, heartless boy my family warned me to expect. He might even be the one person in this world who truly understands me. But there is no escape from my fate. I am the only one who can restore the Westfall legacy.

Because Bishop must die. And I must be the one to kill him…

    • Thanks, Sara. I thought 10 years was good too. LoL Especially given our lifestyle in the military. It tends to be a bit rough and difficult for marriages.

I just finished Some Boys and it was good book. I was conflicted and disgusted throughout it… but I think that’s what the author was going for.

  12. I am dying to read The Book of Ivy. I’ve been debating on The Selection. Not really sure yet.

    • Lekeisha, I was the same way with The Selection but you can’t beat free at the library. Another blogger compared it to the Bachelor, only for a younger crowd, and with a dystopian twist. Which is where she sold me on it. I’m hoping to start reading it sometime this week.

  13. Nice set of new books! I really enjoyed The Selection series, it’s one of those books that I felt like I shouldn’t enjoyed so much but did anyway lol. It was such an addictive series, hopefully you love it too! 🙂

Nice collection of books! I read the Selection a few months back. It was pretty good. Hope you enjoy it 🙂

    • Thanks. I’m currently reading The Selection and it’s a good read. I need to see if my library has the sequel in so I can continue the story when I finish it.

  21. I’ve been really needing to read the Succubus series by Richelle Mead, I have them all on my Kindle I just haven’t gotten the chance to do it. I really enjoy her writing, I just have the last book in her Vampire Academy series to finish up and then I can start Bloodlines, the spin-off. 🙂

Just hopping through from Parajunkee’s View and stopping in to let you know that I’m a new follower and from what I’ve seen on your blog, I’m really going to enjoy visiting. 🙂

    • Suz, I love the VA series. I must have read them about 7 times each by now. I’m still working on the Bloodlines series though. I have only read the first 3. I’ve fallen behind on my personal reads with having the blog. I really need to order the others and sit down and read them. I don’t know if you know this but Richelle goes to the local university in her area and signs all of her books before they are shipped out to the buyer. 😉

  22. Happy 10 year anniversary. Love it we are the same way. Do not need fancy restaurants and expensive gifts. It is the little things in life that mean so much to us.
