Sunday Wrap-Up #43

Sunday Wrap-Up is all about sharing the books and book related items that I’ve picked up recently. I also recap what went on last week and let you in on what’s coming up. I link up my post to Sunday Post, and Stacking the Shelves.

It has been a while since I’ve done one of these. Mainly because I’ve been slowing way down on review books and focusing more on my books. However, it was my birthday this week and I did receive some awesome bookish things. So, there’s at least something I have to share with you guys. 😉

Last week on BSA:
Superstition by Lucy Fenton (Excerpt)

Next week on BSA:
Midnight Hunter by Kait Ballenger (Review)
The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh (Review)
My process of writing reviews (Ramblings of a book sniffer)

Firsts
By: Laurie Elizabeth Flynn
Release Date: Jan. 5, 2016
Genre: YA
Goodreads

Seventeen-year-old Mercedes Ayres has an open-door policy when it comes to her bedroom, but only if the guy fulfills a specific criteria: he has to be a virgin. Mercedes lets the boys get their awkward, fumbling first times over with, and all she asks in return is that they give their girlfriends the perfect first time- the kind Mercedes never had herself.

Keeping what goes on in her bedroom a secret has been easy- so far. Her absentee mother isn’t home nearly enough to know about Mercedes’ extracurricular activities, and her uber-religious best friend, Angela, won’t even say the word “sex” until she gets married. But Mercedes doesn’t bank on Angela’s boyfriend finding out about her services and wanting a turn- or on Zach, who likes her for who she is instead of what she can do in bed.

When Mercedes’ perfect system falls apart, she has to find a way to salvage her reputation and figure out where her heart really belongs in the process. Funny, smart, and true-to-life, FIRSTS is a one-of-a-kind young adult novel about growing up.

The Scent of Secrets
By: Jane Thynne
Release Date: Sept. 15, 2015
Genre: Historical Fiction
Goodreads

Clara Vine, a half-Jewish Anglo-German, uses her unique access to the upper echelons of pre-war Nazi society to spy for her native Britain. The novel richly fuses fact and fiction with a cast of real Nazis and their British admirers, such as the Mitford sisters and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Clara Vine, through her friendship with Eva Braun, finds herself enmeshed in a plot to assassinate Hitler. The setting of pre-war Germany is a treasure trove, and the irresistibly fresh perspective of Nazi wives puts a new spin on an ever-fascinating era, fraught with glamor, political tension, tragedy, and romance.

twilight-forever-complete-box-set-666I will admit that the Twilight Saga is what got me back into reading. I think before that the only books I’d read were ones that were forced upon me during high school. So the Twilight books will always hold a special place in my heart. With that being said, I can’t stand the movies. I find them really uncomfortable to watch. So, I’m sure you’re wondering why I bought the movies. I honestly don’t know. I just had a hankering to watch them and didn’t have the patience to wait for Netflix to send out one dvd at a time. I will say this though, the documentaries for each movie are AWESOME! It gave me a whole new respect for the movies. Like the fact that Taylor (Jacob) did all of his stunts. I also learned that the high school scenes are made up via green screen. The parking lot exists but the school itself doesn’t. They put up green screen walls that the students walked through. That just blew my mind. So, with watching the documentaries before each movie really helped me enjoy the movies themselves a little bit more.

Goodies
