Sunday Wrap-Up #47

Sunday Wrap-Up is all about sharing the books and book related items that I’ve picked up recently. I also recap what went on last week and let you in on what’s coming up. I link up my post to Sunday Post, and Stacking the Shelves.

Last week on BSA:
Origins Exposed by Jen Crane (Review)
Hitched: Vol. 2 by Kendall Ryan (Excerpt)
Afterimage by J. Kowallis (Excerpt & Giveaway)

This week on BSA:
Somniare by DT Dyllin (Excerpt & Giveaway)
Dare to Stay by Jen McLaughlin (Review)
The Matchmaker’s Replacement by Rachel Van Dyken (Excerpt & Giveaway)

Well, we wound up finding a place to rent at the new location and the Mr. and I have been slowly packing away and getting everything sorted out. There’s only one more week left here at this house before I get the moving truck on Sunday and we head out for the new place. We rented one of those 26′ Uhaul trucks and I really hope I don’t pop a curb and flip the stupid thing over between here and there. I’ve never driven anything larger than our Jeep. So, to say I’m a bit nervous is an understatement. I think the packing/unpacking is the easy part, I’m concerned about the driving. So, cross your fingers for me. I’m hoping to be back online by the second week of August. I will have posts scheduled for the time that I will be gone but I won’t be around to really comment or anything. Which, you’ve probably noticed I haven’t really been on chatting much lately anyways. I promise to stop by and chat with everyone once I am unpacked and back online again.

Comic-Con goodies…

This past Friday, the Mr. and I volunteered at Comic-Con. There were a lot of the author signings I missed because I was volunteering, but I was able to catch Scott Sigler and get a signed copy of Alive! Which I was extremely excited about because I’ve been wanting to read this book since it came out last year. Plus, I didn’t know he was even there until I stumbled across the Del Rey publishing booth a mere 20 minutes before the signing. Which seems like a lot of time but when it takes you 5 minutes to walk five steps… 20 minutes is nothing.  I came so close to missing him. >.<

Alive

Genre: Dystopian YA

A young woman awakes trapped in an enclosed space. She has no idea who she is or how she got there. With only her instincts to guide her, she escapes her own confinement—and finds she’s not alone. She frees the others in the room and leads them into a corridor filled with the remains of a war long past. The farther these survivors travel, the worse are the horrors they confront. And as they slowly come to understand what this prison is, they realize that the worst and strangest possibilities they could have imagined don’t even come close to the truth.

I also got a chance to meet my statue in real life. I know that sounds really weird but it’s true. I have this statue from Sideshow that I actually saw a prototype of at Comic-Con last year, pre-ordered it, and I just got it a few months ago. Well, as we were checking out the Sideshow booth, I looked over and there she was! I honestly thought it was a life-sized replica… until she moved. I never knew I could fan-girl over a statue. Ha! I may have been a bit creepy and after the photo told her she looked amazing. But, she looked JUST LIKE my statue. I may still be fan-girling over her. LoL

I had a lot of fun checking out the convention. There were a lot of cool costumes but aside from the Sideshow statue (which was for their booth) I didn’t take pictures of anyone. I just feel weird going up to people, interrupting them from their time at the convention, to get a photo. So, I kept my picture taking to the things around me, not the people. 😉 I have to say though, there were a lot of amazing costumes going on.
