The move from hell is finally over!

Oh, man. I should have known this move was going to be anything but smooth when right out the door we were having problems just getting in to view places. It seemed like the Realtor’s showing the rentals just did not care whether or not they rented out a house. Add onto that a Uhaul truck that didn’t fit all our stuff, one of our larger pieces of furniture getting left behind because it was in a room that I’d closed the door to, and moving into a house that had been closed up for a month and trying to cool it down/air it out during a heat wave… yeah, it was not fun. There’s a lot more to the move but I won’t bore you with my rant. It was just exhausting and after two weeks, we are finally settled into the new place and I’m able to catch up on reading and blogging. I tried to keep things running smoothly while I was gone so that there wasn’t any down time but as many of you noticed, I wasn’t really online chatting with everyone. But, I’m back and ready to get back into the swing of things. First up, the books I got while we moved between houses.

You couldn’t arrest someone for killing in a past life. You couldn’t bring a civil suit against them, either. They could only be legally penalized for what they did this time around—and what a dark circus the legal system had been before that legislation passed! (It was still a dark circus, but perhaps not as dark.) But you could spot them, and watch them. You could set traps for them.

Leah Nazir is an Insighter. Reincarnation is her business. But while her clients’ pasts are a mess, Leah’s is nothing short of tragedy. She’s been murdered. A lot. If left to that bitch, destiny, it’ll happen again. Leah wants to know who’s been following her through time, and who’s been stalking her in the present…

P.I. Archer Drake has been hired by Leah’s mother to keep an eye on her. But the more time he spends watching, the more he finds himself infatuated. Before long, he even finds himself agreeing to help find the person who wants her dead. Over and over again.

Now going full-on “rewind,” Leah hopes it can stave off the inevitable. After all, she’s grown fond of this life—and even fonder of nerdy Archer. But changing her pattern means finding out who her killer is today. And as Leah fears, that could be anyone she has come to know and trust. Anyone.

“I would love you forever, if I only had the chance…”

Kacey Dawson has always lived life on the edge–impulsively, sometimes recklessly. And now, as lead guitarist for a hot up-and-coming band, she is poised at the brink of fame and fortune. But she is torn between wanting to be a serious musician, and the demons that lure her down the glittering, but alcohol-soaked path of rock stardom. A wrecked concert in Las Vegas threatens to ruin her career entirely. She wakes up with the hangover from hell and no memory of the night before, or how she ended up on her limo driver’s couch…

Jonah Fletcher is running out of time. He knows his situation is hopeless, and he’s vowed to make the most of the handful of months he has left to him. His plans include seeing the opening of his glass installation at a prestigious art gallery…they do not include falling in love with a wild, tempestuous rock musician who wound up passed out on his couch.

Jonah sees that Kacey is on a path to self-destruction. He lets her crash with him for a few days to dry out and get her head on straight. But neither of them expected the deep connection they felt, or how that connection could grow so fast from friendship into something more. Something deep and pure and life-changing…something as fragile as glass, that they both know will shatter in the end no matter how hard they try to hold on to it.

She’s trained her whole life to protect herself by any means necessary, from self defense classes to extensive weapons training in knives. Now, she’s gone so far as to befriend a homeless boy named Ploy who unknowingly trades a few nights a week on her couch in exchange for being a human tripwire to those hunting her.

But as Allie and Ploy’s feelings for each other grow, Allie realizes this time, she’ll need more than fighting skills and a sharp blade to beat a villain literally out for blood.

Protecting a girl he shouldn’t love, from a threat he understands too well, Ploy must face his past to save his future in Allie’s world—a world where bringing back the dead can cost you your life.

Being Jazz: My Life as a (Transgender) Teen
By: Jazz Jennings
Genre: memoir
goodreadsbutton BN Amazon-Button

Jazz Jennings is one of the youngest and most prominent voices in the national discussion about gender identity. At the age of five, Jazz transitioned to life as a girl, with the support of her parents. A year later, her parents allowed her to share her incredible journey in her first Barbara Walters interview, aired at a time when the public was much less knowledgeable or accepting of the transgender community. This groundbreaking interview was followed over the years by other high-profile interviews, a documentary, the launch of her YouTube channel, a picture book, and her own reality TV series—I Am Jazz—making her one of the most recognizable activists for transgender teens, children, and adults.

In her remarkable memoir, Jazz reflects on these very public experiences and how they have helped shape the mainstream attitude toward the transgender community. But it hasn’t all been easy. Jazz has faced many challenges, bullying, discrimination, and rejection, yet she perseveres as she educates others about her life as a transgender teen. Through it all, her family has been beside her on this journey, standing together against those who don’t understand the true meaning of tolerance and unconditional love. Now Jazz must learn to navigate the physical, social, and emotional upheavals of adolescence—particularly high school—complicated by the unique challenges of being a transgender teen. Making the journey from girl to woman is never easy—especially when you began your life in a boy’s body.

Wanted dead by his enemies, Vane isn’t looking for a mate. But the Fates have marked Bride as his. 12 Thoughts on “Sunday Wrap-Up #48

  1. Goodness Gracious me!! Such a diverse list of books on here. And you read them all??? Very cool. Lots of sympathy with the move from hell. Mine is coming up December….. Hope you will have a great week and here’s my Sunday Post: http://marelithalkink.blogspot.co.za/2016/08/the-sunday-post-you-have-no-idea.html

    • Thanks for stopping by!
I pretty much read anything with romance in it. The memoir is for a summer reading program I’m doing. While it’s not something I’d normally read, I’m really enjoying it.

I hope your move goes smoothly. I hate moving and due to the Mister’s job, we move a lot. Hopefully you don’t have to battle snow or freezing temperatures during your move.

  2. Phew! I’m so glad that your moving process is settling down! It sounds like you had a lot going on. But you’ve got some wonderful books here to keep you company! I hope you enjoy all of your new books!

    Have a fabulous week. 🙂

    Check out my STS post!

    • Me, too. We thought the move would be easy peasy since we were only moving 30mi away but it seemed like nothing was going our way. I’m just glad it’s all done and over with. I missed reading and look forward to catching up on all my books.
Have a great week, Alyssa. 🙂

  3. Oh gosh. Yeah that does not sound fun at all! I’m glad you’re settled. Hope the rest of the settling in goes a spot better!

    (yay for the pretty reads!)

    • Sorta settled. LoL We’ve been troubleshooting a leak in the house and have repair men coming all week to hammer through the foundation in the house to hopefully fix it. >.< I'm just ready to be done with it all, honestly.

  4. Nice haul this week. I’m looking forward to your Lick review! I loved that series!

    • Lick was really good. I had a problem with the male MC but otherwise thought the story was great. I can’t wait to read the other books in the series.

  5. Melissa (My World...in words and pages) on 22 August, 2016 at 5:09 am said:

Oh boy. That sounds like a move from hell. Everything you try to do seems to work against you. Glad you are finally settled in though. Hope you get some time to relax and breathe in the clean air. 🙂 And read a few pages. 😉

Take care and have a lovely week!

    • LoL It is the move from hell. I should be settled into the new place by now but due to flooding when we first moved in, we have been troubleshooting the leak. Yesterday they found out it was a pipe under the house. So, now they are going to be drilling around, trying to fix it. Hopefully they are able to fix it by the end of the week and I can relax this weekend.

  6. Sorry to hear your move was a bad experience. My area was having 90 degree with bad humidity and I could not imagine doing a move. Great books this week.

    • Oh, the weather here was not the most ideal for moving. I mean, we spent about 8 years in the Mojave desert, so I know heat. However, it was humid and hot here, and trying to air out a house that gets virtually no air flow, let’s just say the first couple weeks we were sweating it out. LoL I’m not sure if it’s cooled down in your area but it’s dropped down to the 80s here and I’ve been soaking up the cooler temps.
