Swish and Flick

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Big news here at the Book Sniffers Keep… I GOT MY FIRST WAND!!! :cue the Oprah “you get a car” yell: My best friend bought me one shortly after getting home from her visit out here. Apparently there was a little girl selling wands and my friend bought one. Not sure if she was at an art fair, someone’s kid was selling it, or she happened across a lil girl selling wands on the corner, but she bought me a custom wand! I know you can’t really grasp my excitement about thing through typed words but I’M LOSING MY MIND OVER IT! I may or may not have started swish and flicking the wand around the house like some deranged version of Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo. Yes, I’m 30 years old. No, I will never grow up!

On other news, I’m pretty sure I bruised my tailbone and injured my breast bone last Friday during my snowboarding adventure. I fell pretty hard on my back-end and was in really bad pain. So when I fell on the board later on (there’s only one way off that stupid mountain and that’s to just continue on) I locked my hands behind me to keep my butt from hitting the snow. I thought maybe I just banged up my body and after I let it rest, I would be good as new. NOPE! They both still hurt. The Mister jokes that he’s going to get me one of those butt donut pillow things to sit on, but I’m holding strong. As long as I don’t sit on any hard surfaces, keep a perfect posture going (easier said than done), and don’t twist my upper half to pick something up, then I don’t end up in pain. All I know is that my pain in the butt is making it hard for me to sit down for extended periods of time and blog. Let alone bend in crazy angles to try to get the “perfect shot” for Instagram. So, if I’ve been a bit quiet lately, that is why.

New arrivals

Read last week

I’ve been jumping around in the Highland Guard series and have finally made my way to The Viper. While I didn’t care for the heroine in the story, I really liked Viper’s character. Obviously I went a little crazy with J. Nathan books this week. I was approved for a review copy of For Crosby, but hadn’t actually read the previous books in the series. While they are all stand-alones and feature different characters, Sabrina is Finlay’s best friend. So, I kind of wanted to go back to the beginning and read it from the top. I’m glad I did because I really enjoyed these books. If you’re looking for a sports romance in a college setting, than you have to check this series out.

Currently reading

This series deals with a group of people who were all survivors of a school shooting many years ago. Each character gets their own story with their own HEA (I hope) at the end.

  1. I love how excited you are over that wand.

    • HaHa You have no idea. I once told the Mister that if we ever go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, I fully plan to slip “Olivander” a Benjamin so that he picks me to do the whole “let the wand choose the wizard” bit. He looked at me like I lost my mind and started laughing at me. Needless to say, we have not gone to the amusement park yet. I think he’s a little afraid to take me.

  2. Oh ouch! I say take the butt pillow! lol Tailbone injuries are just awful. I got mine years ago and it still flares up now and again. Hope you’re feeling better soon!

    • Oh no! This past week has been cloudy and drizzly weather and that area has been this constant pressure. I am really hoping that I don’t feel like that every time the weather changes. πŸ™

  3. Ouch! Poor you πŸ™ it must be difficult to get comfy. Hope you feel better soon! The first book in the Shifters Unbound series is on my Wishlist! Sounds good!!

    • I will be honest, I had a hard time getting into the earlier Shifters Unbound books. It wasn’t until I got a review copy of one of the latest releases that I realized that it’s an amazing series and have since gone back to read previous books. So, if you don’t end up liking the first book, I highly recommend giving some of the newer installments a try. πŸ˜‰

I love the wand! How cool is that. Sorry about the tailbone. I fell on mine when I was pregnant with my first daughter, fishing on the Delaware river with my father, brother and my husband. Luckily it was on my butt cause I was going belly first and my husband grabbed me and so it made me go backwards instead of on my stomach (Think i was 8 months at the time) and OMG lasted 2 years that’s how bad I bruised my tailbone. Lord never want to go through that again. Anyway, sorry for the tail(get it) but have a good week and hope it heals up a lot faster than mine did!

    • Oh my goodness! That sounds awful! I really hope this doesn’t last 2 years. I’m trying to be delicate with it and I’ve since learned that I can’t sit on the floor to put my sneakers on. Gosh, that felt like I took a fall all over again. I’m hoping that if I just take it easy and baby it, I will be good within the next month. πŸ™ But everything I read online, and with what you experienced, said that it can take a lot longer than that to heal and it all depends on the severity of it.

  5. Enjoy your new romance pile πŸ˜‰

  7. The wand looks really cool and I would be just as excited. I hope your pain goes away soon. You have some awesome books to read and I love the covers. Have a great week!

  8. Oh I love that wand! It looks great next to that copy of Cursed Child. πŸ˜€ I hope you recover speedily! Snowboarding sounds fun, injuries notwithstanding. Happy reading, Kristin!

  9. Your excitement has traveled here to NC, and now I want a custom wand right now! I’m so sorry that you’ve heart yourself and are in pain, but I have to give you some mad props for going out there to get it done.(lol) Sending some healing hugs your way. Hugs…RO

    • I always said I wanted to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter to get a wand, but I think having a one-of-a-kind wand is much better. My friend though it would just be something cute to send me, she had no clue how much I was going to lose my mind over it. LoL She was a little surprised by my reaction when I got it. πŸ˜€
And thanks, Ro. I really hope I’m back to 100% soon. I am no a fan of being out of commission.

  10. I won’t lie, I am totally jealous that you got a wand! I secretly covet a wand and want one so badly! Enjoy yours!! {and I’m way older than 30 lol}

  11. Nice wand! What a great gift your friend made for you. Knows you well:) A bruised tailbone is no fun. I broke mine and had to leave church because I coudn’t sit on the hard pew. LOL I hope your pains ease soon.

    My Sunday Post

    • I’m learning that injuring a tailbone is a somewhat common injury for women. I hope to be back to normal soon because I can’t take not being able to do every day things.

  12. I love your wand! The photo is small but what I see looks really cool. Hope it works;-)

    • Thank you. It’s a pretty cool wand and I love that it’s a one-of-a-kind custom made one. Just like in the story, this wand is unlike any other out there. πŸ˜‰

  13. I swear, if I see the Roni Loren book one more time I’ll cave. I read the first one and loved it and I’ve seen. Well damn, now I’ve gone and requested it.

I have Midnight Wolf coming up very soon! Hope you enjoy! πŸ™‚

    • I’m currently halfway through it and it’s really good. Not sure if I like it as much as The One’s Who Got Away though. That one had me so emotional and all over the place. I hope you get approved for it! I’ll be crossing my fingers for you.

  14. I totally get your excitement over your wand! I got Hermione’s wand last year and I was SO excited and I’m still in love with it.

  15. I’ve had my share of falls on the slopes and I hope you feel better soon.

  16. Hope you recover quickly from the snowboarding adventure <3 And omggggg that wand is awesome!!!

    • Me, too. I just got back from running errands and turning the wheel to back out of a parking spot hurt like a mofo. It sucks not being able to do simple things without my chest or butt hurting. πŸ™

  17. So you’re a badass for snowboarding, I’m sorry it left some bruising though!

And that wand is beautiful! What kind is it (wood? hair? etc)?

    • Thank you. I love it. This wand is pretty special because it was make with thestral tail hair. πŸ˜‰ They are just so cool. Probably my favorite from the HP universe.

  18. Your joy over your wand is adorable. I know what you mean about a bruised tail bone, I fell down the stairs a few years ago and it hurt to sit for days. Hope you mend soon.

    • Eesh. I’m finding that a lot of people have hurt their tailbones. I never even really knew such a thing existed until it happened to me. I’m hoping it isn’t really bad and that I will be back to 100% soon.

  19. That wand is awesomeness!

Hope you feel better soon. I’ve hurt my tailbone before and it’s not fun. It took weeks!

    Have a great week!

    • I was hoping I hadn’t really injured my tailbone and I’d be back to normal in a few days… but that doesn’t appear to be the case. :\ At least I have a bunch of books to keep me busy. πŸ˜‰

  20. That is wonderful that you got your first wand, I love your excitement over it. We usually get my daughter (22) some kind of HP thing for her gifts and she still is so thrilled to get them. Sorry to hear about your snowboarding fall, hopefully you’ll be back to feeling pain free soon. Use the donuts, my mom hurt her tailbone, she said it was painful and took a long time to heal. Enjoy all your new reads this week πŸ™‚

    • I don’t know how you can’t get excited over something Harry Potter. Such a fun and magical world. I wound up caving and ordering a cushion this morning. I’m hoping it will help. πŸ™‚

  21. Wow, congratulations on getting your wand. I still haven’t any πŸ˜€ And sorry that you are injured. I hope you get better soon. The bone injury is really bad.

I hope you enjoy all of your new books πŸ™‚

    • Thanks. I have always wanted a wand but just never got one for some reason. I think the pressure of all the selections out there was too much. LoL
And tailbone injuries are no joke. I am hoping for a speedy recovery because this pain is no fun.
