Take me out to the ball game!

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

We got to go to our first Padres game here in San Diego. The Mister’s co-worker had a pair of extra tickets and asked if we wanted to go to a game. It was our first time at Petco Park and we had a blast. We’ve been to a few parks, but so far Petco Park tops the list for me. They had amazing food and drink vendors. I have never been to a ballpark where you could get your typical hotdog and burger, but also get sushi, mahi mahi tacos, and tri tip nachos. Not to mention they had a wine cellar in the stadium! You walked in, chose a bottle from their wall to wall selection of wines (or got it a glass on tap like I did), and they fill up a SD Padres carafe with your wine of choice with a couple of Padres wine glasses to take back to your seat. There was also a really delicious tiki booth serving Mai Thai, Pina Colada, and some ginger concoction. The best part though was that they served their drinks in this tall tiki glass. I may have gotten on of those just to take home the glass. LoL So yeah, if you follow me on IG, now you know why I was posting so many stories on Friday night. πŸ˜‰

New arrivals

I love the sound of a sports romance mixed with shelter animals, and that’s exactly what Rescuing the Receiver is. I’m so beyond excited to have an advanced copy of In Bed with the Beast. I LOVED the first book in the series. It was a riot and I can’t wait to see what kind of trouble a sheltered bookworm and a strip club security guard can get into. Ashes to Ashes was a freebie I picked up. It’s about a country music star whose new bodyguard turns out to be the guy she had a one-night stand with. The Hooker and the Hermit was another freebie I snagged. I’ve been wanting to read this book for years. So, I’m really glad I was able to catch it while it was free.

Read last week

Race the Darkness is a dark romance with a paranormal twist. It was unlike anything I’d ever read before. Bound for Eden finally pulled me out of my book-reading slump. I’ve never read a “Oregon Trail” romance before, but I enjoyed it a lot. Twisted in You was not really my cuppa. The main character was a hot mess and I just couldn’t get on board with the love triangle she put herself in. Midnight Wolf was a great addition to the Shifters Unbound series. I loved the adventure the author put the characters and readers on.

Currently reading

I only just started In Bed with the Beast, but it’s SO GOOD! Belle gets kicked out of her house, ends up sleeping at the local library she runs, and Beast, being the growly gentleman that he is, shows up one night to make she she gets home okay after her late shift and realizes (after calling into work and waiting outside the library until the next morning) that she is sleeping at the library. He comes back to the library every night before closing to make sure she’s safe inside before locking up, and she has no clue why he’s randomly been hanging out at the library ever night. That is, until one night at closing when he demands that she get her stuff and crash at his place instead of sleeping on the floor there. Ugh. I haven’t made it past that part but, I’m already in love with Beast.

  1. Sounds like you had quite some fun at the ballpark. Lucky girl *smile* The Amanda Quick book looks very intriguing. I might get that. Thanks for sharing. Have a great weekend and hopefully a great new week.

    Best wishes
    Vi

  2. I’ve never been a sports fan so I’ve never been to a live game before.

    • I’m not really big into sports either, but I’ve had fun going to games. You get wrapped up in the atmosphere and everyone’s energy around you.

  3. Sounds great πŸ™‚ we didn’t really go out much this weekend. I am still somehow tired XD time just disappears somehow, lately?
That’s really cool they had a wines selection πŸ˜€ that’s so odd πŸ˜€ but definitely cool!

    • Ugh. I feel ya. I think staying out late on Friday threw off my whole internal clock or something. I’ve been so tired all weekend and it was so hard waking up today.

  4. Wow, that stadium sounds awesome. I hope you have a good week and enjoy your new books!

  5. Glad you had a fun time at the game! Ballparks have come a LONG way haven’t they?!? The one here in Cincy has some pretty cool stuff now too!
    Enjoy your books!

    • That’s awesome! I have only been to a few parks, but the other two had your average ballpark food and drink. They all had one thing that they were famous for though. I had searched high and low for what this stadium was known for but it seems that they are just known for good food in general. LoL

  6. I am so jealous that you live somewhere nice enough to go to a baseball game. It is still snowing here in the Midwest! Enjoy all your books.

    • It seems like everyone has had a rough week with weather. We don’t get much in the way of weather here. It’s either sunny and hot or sunny and mild.

  7. Wow I think I’d be doing more eating and drinking than game watching πŸ™‚ That wine cellar sounds pretty nice, and tiki glasses… yeah I’ve been known to buy certain drinks just because I wanted the glass! Sounds like a fun time!

    • I watched the game… some. HaHa I definitely did my beverage shopping based off of the glass. If I’m $15 for a glass of wine, I might as well get it from a place that gives you a commemorative glass. πŸ˜€

  8. Looks like you had a great time. I’ve never been to a baseball game but this place sounds cool. Hope you have a great week and Happy reading!

    • It was fun. I have been to a few games in other stadiums, but I think this layout was my favorite. They had a lot of food and drink selections. Maybe because we are in SoCal, but they had veggie dogs and sushi… which is something I’ve never seen at a ballpark before. I’m not a huge baseball fan, but it was a fun night. πŸ™‚

  9. Sounds like you had a blast at the park! The Shifters Unbound series sounds interesting, I’m in love with the paranormal genre. It’s pretty much the one genre I’ll read across YA, NA and Adult haha. Hope you have a good week πŸ™‚

    • You should definitely check out the Shifters Unbound series. It’s been out for a long time. I’m sure you can find some of the books at your local library. They are well worth the read πŸ™‚

  11. Wow the stadium sounds awesome. I would have been in line for a pina colada. Unless it was cold then wine would be better. πŸ™‚ Have an awesome week!

    • It was definitely hard to choose on what to get. Usually I go out and I have a hard time finding something to eat because I either can’t eat it or am not in the mood for it. However, this stadium was packed with stuff I could eat and drink. I’m not complaining though. I’d rather have too many options than no options at all.

I love baseball. I, also, enjoy sports romances, especially baseball ones. Hope you have a great week!

    • I am fan of sports romances, too. They can be hit or miss for me though. Mainly because I hate it when I read a sports romance, and there is little or no sports actually happening. It’s like it’s just thrown in there that the guy/girl play a sport and that’s it. I want to be on the field/ice with them for practice and during games. Do you have any good sports romance books that you’d recommend?

  13. I miss PETCO Park and my Padres. I used to get a mini season pass every year so I could get to as many games as possible. Sadly in the 7-ish years I’ve been in the PNW, I have yet to make it to a Mariners game.

    • We’ve been here almost two years and it was our first time going. I had no clue how close it was and how easy it is to get to. Most stadiums are such a hassle with traffic, but we took the trolley into downtown and it dropped us off right at the stadium. It was pretty nice.

  14. Wow your ballpark has tons of stuff. That is awesome you got The Hooker and the Hermit for free. Love when that happens.

    • I’ve been wanting to read The Hooker and the Hermit for years. It just sounds like such a fun story and I love the cover. I’m hoping it will be worth the wait.

  15. A ballpark with a wine cellar? That’s a new one on me. Sounds like a fun time, though. I have that Abbie Roads book but have not read it yet. I saw a friend’s review on GoodReads and bought it immediately and now there it sits. Sounds like I might need to move it up to the top of the TBR.

    • The ballpark was unlike any other I’ve been to when it came to food and drinks. I hope you give her book a chance. It’s an interesting concept that she came up with.

  16. Oh that sounds like quite the time!

  17. I snapped up Hooker and the Hermit – I’ve been wanting to read it for a while too.

Karen @ For What It’s Worth

    • Yay! I’m glad you got a copy. I always seem to miss the freebie book sales for the books I have been wanting to read. So, I was really excited when I saw this one. I hope we both like it. πŸ˜‰

  18. Your game night out sounds like fun! And that park sounds pretty good to me, too! We only have a minor league team nearby, but it’s a lot of fun to go and the food is pretty good. I miss going to Indians games since I moved to NC. πŸ™

    • My hometown has a minor league team and I used to love going there with friends when I was younger. I’m not a huge sports fan, but going to see a game live is a whole other experience.

  19. The game sounds like it was really enjoyed to the full. Enjoy your books – the only author I know of among all books is Jennifer Ashley.

    • It was a very fun night. I have been loving the latest installments from the Shifters Unbound series. I can’t wait to see how everything ends for them.

  20. I love going to baseball games. We enjoy our stadium here as well. Looks like you got some fun books and are enjoying them. Have a wonderful week!

    Tressa @ Wishful Endings

    • I definitely want to go back again. It was a lot of fun. Plus, I love that we could take the metro right to the stadium. So we didn’t even have to fight traffic or worry about parking.

  21. The ball game sounds like so much fun. I haven’t been in years but used to always love going to Oriole Park to watch the O’s play.

    • The Orioles are my husband’s favorite team. He actually wore his Orioles gear to the Padres game. LoL
We went to an Orioles game like 10 years ago and it was a lot of fun. We took a water taxi over from our hotel and grabbed some food at this dive bar before heading in for the game. We had a caricature drawing done that still hangs up on our wall to this day. πŸ˜€

  22. I honestly can’t wait to read Midnight Wolf, I just adore the Shifters Unbound, it such a fun series.

The only time I actually like baseball is watching it LIVE. Its so fun…on TV its really boring for me, however I always love going to a live game.

    • Midnight Wolf was so good! Plus, I loved getting to see Tiger again. Mainly because I JUST read his book a couple of weeks ago. So, his journey is still fresh in my mind.

  23. Glad you enjoyed your game, or rather the food and drinks at the stadium. You truly made me want to be there! I’m all the way from Sydney Australia but I’ve got family in San Diego I NEED to make Pedro Park a stop next time I go up there.

I’m a huge advocate for animal shelters so that book has really piqued my interest.

    Angelica @ Paperback Princess

    • Yes! You definitely need to stop in for a game on your next visit. The game itself was also fun, but I’m a foodie. So of course, I was in awe of all the various food selections they had. I was expecting your typical burgers and hot dogs.

I just started Rescuing the Receiver last night. Only made it through one chapter before crashing for the night. So he only JUST showed up to the shelter. However, I’m loving the set up of it so far.
