The Month of Mayhem

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

So last month was… yeah. I feel like I’m in a dystopian novel. I’ve never seen so many people panic before. One minute you’re at work and then *bam*, you’re laid off, grocery stores are barren, and you’re told you can’t leave your house, while the news just shows all the chaos in the world and the growing infected/death rate. So, yeah… last month was a bit intense. Something tells me this month is not going to be any better. Luckily mine and my coworkers jobs are safe for now… but only for a couple more weeks. Then who knows. I’ve been very fortunate that due to my husband’s job, he will never be laid off and will always get a steady paycheck. Not to mention the security needed to get on base has gone up, and you can’t even enter the commissary without verifying that you’re healthy and not at risk of getting others sick. However, it doesn’t negate that tingling sense of fear as day after day you tune into the same chaos on the news.

Due to Covid-19, I’ve found that I have a lot more time on my hands, as I’m sure we all do. I thought I’d get a lot of reading, gardening, and running/walking in… but then pollen happened and the winds picked up, and I’ve been stuck inside with all the windows closed itching to get out of the house. I don’t know about you guys, but for some reason I’m having a hard time focusing on books lately. Well, my focus has been shot on just about everything, if I’m being honest. Now I understand why my dog gets so excited about the happenings of outside, and goes nuts when he sees a rabbit or bird on the front lawn.

I hope that you guys are all well and staying safe. This is a crazy time, no matter where you’re from. Stay safe. Stay sane. Stay healthy!

7 Thoughts on “The Month of Mayhem

  1. I get really stressed, when I get the daily doom & gloom report from my mayor (listing new infections and deaths in my township) and when I read the news, but I am fortunate enough to be able to lock myself away. Although my job is essential and cannot be done from home, I got emergency leave, because my father is immunocompromised, and I live with him. I am absolutely amazed that my company did that. Glad to hear your job is secure, and I hope you are hanging in there. Your cat’s face in the War picture is fantastic. Love it!

  2. I can relate, my reading has been almost non existent. It sounds like with your security on base you have a little more protection from the chaos, which is nice. There’s just so much uncertainty out there now and fear, especially since we have so little control over anything!

And lol- right about the dogs? Now it makes more sense. πŸ™‚ It’s hard being cooped up inside all the time. πŸ™‚

I love the cat pics. Be safe this week!

  3. i have been doing a lot of reading, but, yes, the books don’t seem as good and i have a hard time staying focused. staying at home doesn’t bother me, i am retired and quite the homebody, but i am worried for my son. he is far away and lives alone….

This has been a month! Minnesota is still in the build up stage for the virus. We’re staying home but still have relatively few cases. They are anticipating the peak to be in late April and May. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

  5. I thought I would finally clear out my entire physical TBR pile. I’ve read 2 books. lol

  6. You’re right – lots of things going on for sure. I’ve always worked from home, but I’m a HUGE coupon shopper and deal finder, and have pretty much curtailed that, but it gives me some more time to work on some organization around here, other projects and blog visits. I need no mention my obsessive movie watching.(lol) As a veteran, I know that the military are part of those on the front line along with grocery workers and health teams and so many others who continue to work to support so many. Wishing you, your family and so many more well wishes. be safe and sending lots of air hugs your way! RO

  7. I’m glad your job is safe for now and your husband’s job isn’t in danger! My husband and I are both safe from the threat of job losses too… It must be horrendous for those who’ve lost their job on top of all of this.
I’m generally struggling with the lockdown and can’t focus on much of anything at the moment. πŸ™

I love your kitty pictures! I had a mackerel tabby years ago and they’re so pretty.

    Take care of yourself!
