Different Month, Same Story

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

I hope everyone is doing well and is staying safe. I’d like to say that things have slowed down for me, but they haven’t. I’ve had a lot going on over here in my lil world, and I haven’t been getting as much blogging done. I finally fully cancelled my big family vacation for November and got all out money back from it. I was really looking forward to seeing my family and finally getting to go to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, but there’s no way that’s happening. My area is still closed for the most part. So, aside from working and running out for things we need, I pretty much just stay home and go stir crazy.

Aside from being back at work, I’ve been crafting a lot more. During quarantine I purchased a Cricut machine and have been playing with it a lot lately. I’ve made some shirts, friend’s have been having me decorate or make them cups, I’ve decorated some egg cartons for a friend who has chickens, and I have even started experimenting with ice dying fabric. I’ve had a lot of fun pushing myself to try new techniques and learn new things. So all these random projects have also kept me a bit busy and has helped me keep my sanity for the most part.

I also recently (like a week ago) rescued a pair of hermit crabs that some guy was getting rid of in my community. He posted this photo of a disgusting set up or some brown slime on the bottom of a tank and said he was getting rid of his hermit crabs. Since I had the means to be able to take these little guys on, I decided to reach out to him and take them from him. Well, I had no clue how stressful these lil… or rather big things could be. They are huge (not the cute lil things you see in pet stores), and need an insane amount of care to make them happy. So, for the last week I have been stressing over that and trying to get everything set up perfectly for them. Thankfully there are a few really good Facebook groups that have helped me out a lot.

So yeah, I’ve been keeping busy over here and have just been trying to keep my sanity… while also sort of losing it at the same time. 😉

10 Thoughts on “Different Month, Same Story

  1. Oh I’m sorry to hear about your vacation! That sucks having to cancel like that… looks like you’ve had some good books though. simmer Down looks fun.

Good luck with the hermit crabs! They do sound like a handful! 🙂

  2. I’m sorry you’ve had to cancel your vacation.

I had hermit crabs when I was a kid, those ones do seem kinda large, I’m sure they appreciate your care though.

Wishing you a great reading week

    • I had them growing up, too. The summer fair always had them as a prize, and I always won a couple to take home. They always died within months, though. Knowing what I know now and looking back, I’m surprised they lasted that long. :\

  3. What a fun bunch on your shelves to help during these Covid times. Enjoy. And cool cricut creations too.

  4. Who knew hermit crabs were a lot of work?? lol

What cricut machine do you have? I was thinking of getting one for the winter when I’m stuck inside.

I just got Crazy Stupid Bromance for review and I’m looking forward to it!

    • I know. I had them as a kid growing up. They always died on me… now I know why.

I have the Cricut Maker. I figured if I was going to go in, I might as well go all in. I haven’t used the “maker” features on it yet, but one day I’d like to try metal engraving and wood design. There are a bunch of Cricut beginner groups on facebook that have helped me out a lot. A lot of people join them to get a feel for whether or not they’d be interested in buying a machine.

  5. Sorry you had to cancel your vacation and you couldn’t see your family, Kristin, it’s a hard time for me as well . . . Things got pretty crazy in UK (although I know it’s a mess all over the world at the moment) and, between a problem and another, I had to move back to Italy for the time being. It’s been a real nightmare . . . Moves are stressful but, let me tell you, International ones are even more so, especially during such a bad time.

Anyway, being crafty is a blessing! I’m like that too, but I don’t have a Cricut machine and you sure made me want to have one 😛 Your creations look lovely <3 Keep it up, you are doing great! *hugs*

  6. Keeping busy and staying sane are THE top goals at the moment, aren’t they? So much is utterly crap. I’m sorry you had to cancel your holiday. Even if it’s not surprising it’s another perfect example of the neverending shitshow of 2020. 🙁

I started Geekarella back in the summer but for whatever reason never finished it! I think it was when I was slumping hard. 🙁 I was enjoying it though so will re-visit.

Hope October has more little bright spots for you.
