Lawyers, Rock Stars, and Kings.

I’m linking this post to Sunday Post, Stacking the Shelves, and It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

Kind of exciting news… I hit the 500 milestone mark on Instagram followers this week! Which I’m really excited and surprised about. A lot of you guys have themes. Heck, all the “how-to” posts I see online for Instagram say that you should have a theme if you want to post about books, but I’m horrible about restrictions. I like to post whatever I want, when I want to. I also don’t have all those fancy props and random stuff that people put in their photos. I don’t have the space for that kind of stuff and with how often we move with the Mister’s job, I don’t want to have to pack it up every few years. Bleh! So, my account is pretty basic with no fancy flair or frills. So, the fact that I hit 500 is mind-boggling. So if you follow me on there, THANK YOU! Also, leave a comment with your IG handle so that I can follow you back. πŸ˜‰

New arrivals

A big thank you to Forever Publishing for the review copy of The Last King. I was also able to snatch Filthy English and Enough while they were free this week.

Read last week

The One You Can’t Forget was a well rounded romance. I am really enjoying this new series by Roni Loren. More Than a Feeling is a rock star romance that may have been the best one I’ve read in this series so far. Getting Tiger’s story in Tiger Magic kind of broke my heart. That poor guy has been through so much and I was so happy to see him get his HEA. I’ve been slowly listening to Anna Kendrick’s biography, Scrappy Little Nobody and all I have to say is, I think we a kindred spirits.

  1. Aaaah I hope you’ll love The Last King as much as I did!
I have yet to read Tiger’s story – I left out a couple along the way. I have Midnight Wolf coming up soon. Very much looking forward to that.
I’m glad you liked Roni Loren’s. I snatched it up because everybody seems to have it and I wanted to be one of the cool kids. πŸ˜€

    Have a wonderful week!

    • LoL I picked up The Last King because of your review. It sounded so good and you seemed to have really enjoyed it. I will admit that it didn’t grip my attention at the beginning like it did with you, but I pushed through and now I’m hooked. I’m only at the halfway mark so there’s still a lot left to the story.

  2. I loved Tiger Magic. That entire series is so good.

    • It’s a really good series. I LOVE Tiger’s character. I don’t know if I’ve ever really met a fully feral shifter before who is trying to learn how to be civilized before. It was a really interesting concept and it really pulled on my heartstrings.

Congrats on the Instagram follows! Your new books all look so good! I hope you enjoy them. Have a great week ahead.

    • Thanks. I never really expected to get many followers since I sort of do my own thing and keep to myself. So the fact that I hit 500 is a huge accomplishment. πŸ™‚

Congrats on your Instagram followers! I don’t really do a lot of fancy things either, and I definitely don’t have a theme, but honestly, some themes feel too repetitive after awhile. I want to mix things up! I’m already following you – @laurenashleybecker

I still need to read Anna Kendrick’s book, but I do love her. πŸ™‚

    • Thank you, Lauren. I agree with you about themes. They are nice at first, but after a while they just all look the same.

I hope you get a chance to listen to her audiobook. It was really entertaining.

  6. LOL on the instagram theme. Yeah, I’m terrible about that, too. Some of them stick to their themes like glue! Congrats on hitting 500! That’s awesome πŸ™‚

Yay for Loren and Kelly. I enjoy them as well πŸ™‚ And Tiger. I’ve still not read his book because I know it’s gonna make me cry. lol But I love him in all the other books.

    Happy Easter!

    • Tiger’s book was awesome! It was a bit heartbreaking to read because of his past, but it was great watching him find his mate. I hope you go back someday and read his story. It’s well worth the read.

  7. Congrats on the Instagram followers! I also don’t have a theme or fancy props. But, I don’t have 500 followers, either. Have a great week! Enjoy your new books!

    • Thanks! It was a bit of a surprise when I saw the number. As a rule, I try not to look at follower numbers but it’s so hard sometimes. I hope you have a wonderful week, Aj.

  8. I love Anna Kendrick. Looks like you have some great books. Congrats on the Instagram followers.

  9. Congrats on your Instagram benchmark. I’ve only just reclaimed my account. I think I’m jhohadli over there too. Still figuring out if or how much I’ll use it.

    • Thanks. I’ve had my account for a couple years and it took me a while to figure out not only what I was doing, but what I actually wanted my account to be. I still don’t really know what I’m doing, but I’m having fun posting my photos and that’s all that matters. πŸ˜‰ I hope you get the hang of it and join the IG booklovers community.

  10. Congratulations on your 500 IG milestone! I’m pleased to say I’m one of them πŸ˜‰ Instagram handle: @silviapaoletta and as you can see I don’t follow any rule, or use the same ‘pattern’ many like to use. Don’t get me wrong, I do like all the amazing pictures around, but I personally prefer to do more real shots, you know? It sorts of open a little window into my life and I think this way people can connect with me on a better level and see me for who I am πŸ™‚ Having said that, one should chose whatever makes them happy and let them have fun!!

As for the books I see here, thank you! I believe I have to add a few to my list πŸ˜€

    • Ah! Thank you for following and for leaving your handle. I sometimes don’t check my updates for a while, so a lot of stuff falls through the cracks. So I’m now a follower of yours! Sorry I wasn’t sooner. I agree, that you need to do what makes you happy. I tend to use my stories section as a more personal update and the account as more of bookish photos. I try to take part in book photo challenges to help push me to post on IG. Otherwise, I’d probably never post on there. LoL

  11. Whoops, I was posting and then it seems my internet died… Not sure if the comment got posted! But I wanted to congratulate you with the followers πŸ™‚

Congrats on the follower milestone on Instagram! I’m so non-savvy about it I didn’t know you were supposed to have themes, etc., but I love your posts! πŸ™‚ They’re much better than mine! Ha! Congrats on your book haul. I’m so sad I missed out on Filthy English while it was free. *sigh* I hope you love all your new goodies. And I’m interested in your thoughts on Scrappy Little Nobody. I’ve been wanting to read that one as well. πŸ™‚

    • Thanks, Brandee! There’s a whole bunch of things that people say you should do on IG, but I don’t think I’ve done any of it. LoL I just sort of do my own thing. I love your photos though because they show so much of your personality and what you’re up to. It always seems like you are on some sort of adventure or outing. I say keep doing what makes you happy! πŸ˜‰

  13. Congrats on the Instagram reach. Your photos here in this post look fab enough not to have to worry any further. And who wants to be limited to one thing, be and do what you want!

  14. Congrats on 500 followers! I don’t have a theme either and honestly I’m awful at Instagram, so I applaud those who are great at it! Enjoy your new reads and have a great week!

  15. Congrats on reaching 500 followers on Instagram! That’s wonderful πŸ™‚

I wish I had read the audio version of Anna Kendrick’s book. It was still a good read for me but I think I would have loved it even more if I had heard her voice while reading it. I don’t think just reading her words on the page really conveyed her humor, etc.

    • Thanks!
You would probably get a whole new experience if you listened to her audiobook. She has so much snark and sass when she’s reading certain parts that you can just picture her. It’s as if you’re sitting down having a conversation with her.

  16. Congrats! I don’t have a theme either. It could be a month of dogs, followed by a week of cats, followed by 2 days of books or some weird mix of that plus food or plants thrown in lol

I buy my props in the Target $ area. If it costs more than a few $$ or takes more than 5 minutes to photograph I don’t bother lol

Personally, I like accounts that are more realistic and have a sense of personality rather than super polished and perfect.

Karen @ For What It’s Worth

    • Thanks, Karen. I love your feed. The pups and Figment are so cute and I loved the unicorn and bunny ears you put on them. It had me cracking up! I can’t believe I never thought to check the dollar section at Target. Although, I try to star far far away from that area when I go to the store. LoL It just sucks you in and before you know it you’re spending $20 on dollar items when all you wanted was a birthday card! HaHaHaa

  17. Congrats on your increase of Instagram followers, that is wonderful. I personally don’t like photos that have a lot of props, it looks too clutter-y and takes away from the book, one of the reasons I enjoy your photos. The Last King, I just added it to my growing tbr list, I’ll keep an eye out for your review. I’ll look into More Than a Feeling, I do enjoy a good rock star romance. Have a wonderful day.

    • Thank you! That means a lot. My review for The Last King goes live on Monday. It was an enjoyable read and a great start to a new series. πŸ˜‰
