Stuck on Books is putting on a May I Suggest Giveaway Hop, and I’ve decided to join in on the fun. It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these hops, but I had to take part in this one. I’ve actually been holding onto these books for over a year now. I was lucky enough to meet D.T. Dyllin at RT Booklovers Convention last year, and I got her entire M-Day series signed for an upcoming giveaway that I was planning. However, I wound up moving soon after the convention and things got put on the back burner. So, when I saw that there was an upcoming hop designed to show your love for one of your favorite books by giving them away. Prince’s, Thieves, and Birthday Girls!

I definitely got bit by the Spring bug. I’ve been gardening up a storm! Last weekend we went out and got some plants for my tortoise, Hailey’s, enclosure. My neighbor who practically has a botanical garden in her backyard, is preparing to move, and she gave me clippings of some of her plants. I’ve now been introduced to Philippine Orchids and a Orchid Cacti. The Philippine Orchid is really cool looking and I would have never guessed it was an orchid. It has these plantlets that grow off of the branches of the stalk (sort of like a spider plant). The Orchid Cacti are plants I’ve seen around the neighborhood but had no clue what they were. I tried googling them but was never able to identify them. So, I was really excited when she offered to give me some clippings from hers. Right now they look like a snake plant but once they start growing more segments they will resemble more of a huge Christmas Cactus.

Puppies, Princesses, and Girl Power!

On Friday I went whale watching for the first time on the west coast. I’ve been living in California for the last eight years and I’ve never gone whale watching out here. However, there were a group of people from my husband’s work who were interested in going out on a tour before the end of the season. I was a little worried that I would get seasick, but ultimately decided to go and hope for the best. I am really glad I did because it was so much fun! We got to see a resident grey whale that apparently hangs out in this one shallow area near the beginning of our trip out to the open sea. Then when we were way out in the ocean we got to see a mom and calf grey whale. We lost sight of them for a bit and then all of a sudden they were resurfacing on the other side of the boat with two other grey whales who seemed to pop up out of nowhere. There were some seals swimming out in the waves. A bunch of sea lions basking on a bait fish dock. We also got to see a pod… or more likely, pods of dolphins playing and jumping around in the water. There were just so many of them. I wound up taking a video of them because there was no way I was going to capture it in a single picture. It was insane. So yeah, I had a ton of fun. The best part is… I didn’t get sick! I was actually laughing like a loon, riding the waves like a crazy cowgirl, while everyone around me was groaning. 😂
