A stunning and suspenseful new landscape emerges in the thrilling Dark-Hunter world—a world where nothing will ever be the same again. . .

Fang Kattalakis isn’t just a wolf. He is the brother of two of the most powerful members of the Omegrion: the ruling council that enforces the laws of the Were-Hunters. And when war erupts among the lycanthropes, sides must be chosen. Enemies are forced into shaky alliances. And when the woman Fang loves is accused of betraying her people, her only hope is that Fang believes in her. Yet in order to save her, Fang must break the law of his people and the faith of his brothers. That breech could very well spell the end of both their races and change their world forever.

The war is on and time is running out…

1thoughts
So, I’ve read the first book in the Dark-Hunter series Night Pleasures… and that was it. Not that I didn’t like the book but that was all my library carried. So skip forward a month to me cruising books on amazon that are on sale. Which is where I find this gem. I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to skip so many books in the storyline but this book reads as a stand alone just fine. At no point was a lost as to what was going on. Now granted I may have connected more with the secondary characters a bit more but I loved the story.

The story starts off with Fang, his brother and fellow wolf pack members going into a bar. (yes I realize this sounds like the start of a corny joke). It turns out that the bar is run by were-bears and the bar is a neutralized zone. So when were-jackals show up and not only attack the owners of the bar but threaten the life of Aimee, the bears sister and daughter, the wolves take action. They were brought up to hold females in the utmost respect and to protect them at all costs. What isn’t acceptable is inter-species relations. Which just so happens to snowball between Aimee and Fang after the jackal incident.

Now yes there is forbidden romance but there is so much more to the story than that. You have two separate species that you follow in this book. We have the bears and the wolves. Now, most shifter books tend to be about wolves and I’ll be honest… some subjects like mating were brought up in this book that I hadn’t seen in other shifter books. I’m not talking about the “we’re mated for life” but the fact that after they get a mate mark, if they don’t seal the deal then the male goes limp noodle for the rest of his life. Or that females can be rather ahem, rough shall we say during the horizontal tango. I also liked the aspect of the families in this story. Both Fang and Aimee have close family members that they cherish and would die for. Not to mention the war that’s waging against Aimee’s family and Fang’s personal war with his demon. This is a novel that will leave you wanting for nothing.

“If I do anything strange, you leave me immediately. You understand?”
“How strange?”
“I don’t know. Try to eat you?”
She arched her brow at that. “Ooo-kay. You do that sort of thing a lot?”
“Not really, but who knows after all this. I might even sprout horns and turn into Simi when you’re not looking.”
“Well, I promise if you come at me with bad juju, I will tear out your guts. And if you transform into a teenaged female Goth demon, I’m going to laugh my butt off.”
