Logan spent two years paying for the mistakes he made. Now, he’s ready to start over. He has a great apartment, a good job, and plenty of women to distract him from his past. And one woman who is driving him to distraction…

Grace escaped her manipulative family by moving to a new city. Her new life, made to suit her own needs, is almost perfect. All she needs to do is find her Mr. Right—or at least figure out a way to ignore her irresistible yet annoying womanizer of a neighbor.

Grace is determined to have nothing to do with Logan until a life-changing surprise slowly begins turning the wild heartbreaker into exactly the kind of strong, stable man she’s been searching for. Only just when she begins to give into his charms, her own messy past threatens to derail everything they’ve worked to build…

1thoughtsWith reading the synopsis, you’d think this would be your typical bad-boy player meets squeaky clean good-girl and they fall madly in love. I’m glad to say that wasn’t the case. I mean, well, it kind of was but the story was so much more than just their romance. It starts off with Logan being Grace’s new neighbor who has a revolving door of women coming into his apartment. Which, wouldn’t be a huge deal for Grace except for the fact that they keep her up all night long with their loud late-night activities. The two of them have some confrontations over the noise and over the fact that Grace finds a thong drying on the railing outside her door. However, when a huge bombshell is dropped on Logan (sorry no spoilers), Grace is there to witness the fallout and the two begin to grow close. However, the story isn’t just about Grace and Logan. It’s also about the new course that life has thrown him and how he adapts to it all with the help of Grace. Grace sort of becomes his life jacket.

This was more than what I was expecting. I was pleasantly surprised when not even 20% in, the real story kicks in and takes over. I love the twists that the author adds into the story. Without those twists I think this story would have been like so many others where the bad-boy changes his ways because he’s met “the one”. That is NOT this story at all.

The entire book is told in Grace’s point of view. We never get Logan’s take on anything and that was honestly okay with me. Grace is a strong and intelligent woman. She didn’t have annoying, petty thoughts, or jump to conclusions. She always thought things through and went to the source if she had any questions or doubts. She was a breath of fresh air.

Logan was an interesting character as well. He gets a lot dealt to him in his life. He just got out of jail after serving two years for assault. He attacked his sister’s boyfriend when the guy not only beat her up but tried to rape her. While in, he had to become someone different in order to survive. Now that he’s out, he’s making up for lost time and trying to adjust to life on the outside again. However, he doesn’t get much of a break because pretty soon life deals him another card that changes his life yet again. I loved the fact that Logan wasn’t some hard-headed idiot. He didn’t resist the things that came his way, he rolled with it and saw it through to the end. He adapted and did the best he could.

This was a great book and although I only read a couple of the previous books from the series, this can be read as a stand-alone. Since this is the last book in the series the author brings back all the previous characters. So, if you read the previous books, you got a sense of reunion with them all. The author even adds epilogues for each of the ladies from the series at the end. I thought that was pretty cool but for someone who hasn’t read those books, I wasn’t overly connected nor invested in them. All in all, this was a great book that had some solid characters. I will be looking forward to what the author writes next.

4 Thoughts on “Review: Moonlight on Nightingale Way by Samantha Young

  1. Nice review. I like that quote too. I can’t believe I haven’t started this series yet. It looks so good. At least they can be read as standalones.

    • Being able to read them on their own helps me out a lot. I very rarely get a chance to read a series from start to finish anymore now that I started my blog. I’m always bouncing around with books.

  2. Aw yay. Glad you enjoyed it too. That was quite the twist. I really liked how she did that. I was good with just her POV too though I think I would have loved his some too 😀 Would have been something seeing him deal with things. lol

    • Definitely would have been interesting to get his POV but that’s just how she wrote the series. I haven’t read anything else by her, not sure if that’s how it always goes or if that’s just how she wrote On Dublin Street.
