Sunday Wrap-Up #40

Sunday Wrap-Up is all about sharing the books and book related items that I’ve picked up recently. I also recap what went on last week and let you in on what’s coming up. I link up my post to Sunday Post, Bought, Borrowed & Bagged, Showcase Sunday, and Stacking the Shelves.

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been hella busy with the holidays… and it’s only the Mr and me. However, I still go all out for the feast and had two days of prep work for the french toast casserole and lasagna that I make since I make the sauce and bread myself. Plus, after dinner on Christmas we went over to our friends house (who just so happen to live across the street from us) and wound up hanging out with them and drinking until the wee hours of the morning. So, yeah… not a lot of reading or blogging has been getting done. Sadly, it may continue to be slow here until after the new year since I have a friend visiting from out of town tomorrow and then New Years Eve festivities going on.

Oh and before I forget, if you didn’t see it on Facebook (which a lot of you don’t since FB is being crazy and hiding a lot of my posts from people)… I have joined tsu for those who have switched over to that networking site. So if you use that site, be sure to pop over to my page and add me as a friend.

Invaded
By: Melissa Landers
Release Date: Feb 3, 2015
Genre: Fantasy YA
Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

The romantic sequel to Alienated takes long-distance relationships to a new level as Cara and Aelyx long for each other from opposite ends of the universe…until a threat to both their worlds reunites them.

Cara always knew life on planet L’eihr would be an adjustment. With Aelyx, her L’eihr boyfriend, back on Earth, working to mend the broken alliance between their two planets, Cara is left to fend for herself at a new school, surrounded by hostile alien clones. Even the weird dorm pet hates her.

Things look up when Cara is appointed as human representative to a panel preparing for a human colony on L’eihr. A society melding their two cultures is a place where Cara and Aelyx could one day make a life together. But with L’eihr leaders balking at granting even the most basic freedoms, Cara begins to wonder if she could ever be happy on this planet, even with Aelyx by her side.

Meanwhile, on Earth, Aelyx, finds himself thrown into a full-scale PR campaign to improve human-L’eihr relations. Humans don’t know that their very survival depends on this alliance: only Aelyx’s people have the technology to fix the deadly contamination in the global water supply that human governments are hiding. Yet despite their upper hand, the leaders of his world suddenly seem desperate to get humans on their side, and hardly bat an eye at extremists’ multiple attempts on Aelyx’s life.

The Way clearly needs humans’ help . . . but with what? And what will they ask for in return?

Tomboy to the core, Toni Valentine understands guys. She’ll take horror movies, monster hunts and burping contests over manicures. Bridges Burned
By: Chris Cannon
Release Date: January 19, 2015
Genre: YA Fantasy
Goodreads | Amazon | B&N

Since discovering she is a shape-shifting, fire-breathing dragon on her sixteenth birthday (surprise!), Bryn McKenna’s world has been thrown into chaos. Being a “crossbreed”—part Red dragon and part Blue—means Bryn will never fit in. Not with dragon society. Not with the archaic and controlling Directorate. And definitely not when she has striped hair and a not-so-popular affection for rule-breaking…

But sneaking around with her secret boyfriend, Zavien, gets a whole lot harder when he’s betrothed to someone else. Someone who isn’t a mixed breed and totally forbidden. And for an added complication, it turns out Bryn’s former archnemesis Jaxon Westgate isn’t quite the evil asshat she thought. Now she’s caught between her desire to fit in and a need to set things on fire. Literally.

Because if Bryn can’t adapt to the status quo…well, then maybe it’s time for her to change it.

  1. Looks like a nice haul! Hope you enjoy ’em all.

  2. It sounds really nice to have your best friends living just across the street from you! I’m sure you had a great time 🙂
I have requested Invaded, too, I totally loved Alienated.
I hope you’ll enjoy all your new books! Happy New Year 🙂

  3. I’m really excited about Invaded, I can’t wait to see your thoughts on it! I just joined TSU a few weeks ago and I’m loving it so far, there’s a lot more interaction!

  4. Sounds like you and your mister are very happy. We’re usually on our own or with our family of friends. This was the first holiday we spent with my sister and her husband and my mom since before my dad passed in 1998. Mom is no Sprig Chicken these days so we thought it’s time to spend some holidays with her.

Yours sounded like a ball though – and delicious!

    • I’m sure your mom was thrilled to see you guys on Christmas though. I’d love to go back east to spend time with family over the holidays but plane tickets are outrageous around the holidays.

  5. Great haul! The holidays usually end up being either a mass vortex of time where I get all the reading done or an endless stream of half planned/half impromptu outings with friends and family and a book is rarely even looked at. It’s always interesting to see which it will be. 🙂 Hope you enjoy your New Year!

  6. I loved Invaded and Just One Of The Guys looks so cute and sounds exactly like my kind of book! Enjoy! Thanks for stopping by!

I keep seeing tsu everywhere but I don’t know what is really is.

  8. I’ve never had any interest in joining Facebook but everyone seems to react with horror when I tell them this as if you can have no life without it! Hope you enjoy your books and have a good New Year. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  9. Sounds like a nice Christmas! I’ve signed up for tsu as well but haven’t done much with it. Hopefully I’ll find time in the next few weeks. It looks like fun. Enjoy your new books! Have a great week and a happy New Year!

  10. Aaaahh!! I can’t wait to see your review for Invaded, the first book was so good! I hope the second book is as good.
